Tb. Ace Hasan Syadzily, M.Si., and Commissioner of the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM), Pramono Ubaid Tanthowi, S.Ag., M.A. The event took place at the Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/10/2025).

The ceremony was opened by Prof. Dr. Ali Munhanif, M.A., and Prof. Ismatu Ropi, M.A., Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin, along with vice deans, lecturers, students, and alumni in attendance.

Dean Prof. Ismatu Ropi expressed gratitude for the Faculty’s 63-year journey, highlighting its longstanding role in shaping Islamic scholarship in Indonesia.

“The Faculty of Ushuluddin has produced numerous scholars and intellectuals who have contributed to the advancement of Islamic studies in Indonesia. This anniversary is a moment of reflection to strengthen our academic tradition, national spirit, and the integration of Islamic values with contemporary challenges,” he stated.

Representing the Rector, Prof. Dr. Ali Munhanif commended the Faculty’s initiative, emphasizing the broader role of religious studies.

“Religious studies go beyond the textual dimension. They encompass social and national contexts. The Faculty of Ushuluddin carries a vital mission to preserve harmony and reinforce humanitarian values amid Indonesia’s diversity,” he remarked.

In the first session, the Governor of Lemhannas RI, Dr. H. Tb. Ace Hasan Syadzily, delivered a keynote address titled “The Role of Religious Studies in National Resilience.” He underscored that national resilience is not solely rooted in economic or military strength, but also in the moral and spiritual foundations of society.

“Religion forms the moral core of a nation. It teaches the meaning of life, nurtures solidarity, and shapes a nation’s character to be both religious and open-minded,” he explained.

Dr. Ace also reminded the audience of Indonesia’s four foundational national consensuses: Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika.

“Indonesia will remain strong as long as we uphold religious values as the foundation of our national life with these essential pillars of unity,” he affirmed.

The second session featured Komnas HAM Commissioner Pramono Ubaid Tanthowi, who presented a lecture titled “Religion and Human Rights.” He emphasized the inseparable relationship between religious values and the protection of human dignity.

“Religion and human rights should not be seen as a paradigm. Both share the same moral roots to uphold human dignity and justice for every individual,” he said.

He further noted that nurturing moderate and contextual religious understanding is essential for promoting human rights awareness in society.

“Students of the Faculty of Ushuluddin have a crucial role in grounding Islamic principles as a religion of protection,” Pramono added.

The event concluded with the presentation of tokens of appreciation to both speakers, followed by a group photo session that marked the close of the 63rd-anniversary celebration in a warm and collegial atmosphere.
