Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Announces the 9th International Conference on Education in Muslim Societies: Integrating Multiculturalism and Literacy in the Educational Landscape
Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, UIN News Online - The Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK) UIN Jakarta is pleased to announce the implementation of the 9th International Conference on Education in Muslim Society (ICEMS) on August 14-15, 2024 at Mahmud Yunus Theater FITK UIN Jakarta. This activity aims to respond to increasingly complex social and cultural challenges in the era of globalization.
The theme of the conference is "Integrating Multiculturalism and Literacy in the Educational Landscape." The increasing social intolerance reflects the existence of socio-cultural problems caused by exclusive views and attitudes. Therefore, the concept of multiculturalism becomes relevant to address current global changes by supporting cultural diversity and plurality as important elements in a pluralistic society.
ICEMS 2024 will feature prominent keynote and invited speakers from home and abroad. The opening of the conference will be delivered by the Director of Islamic Higher Education at the Directorate General of Islamic Education of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Zainul Hamdi, keynote speeches by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., as well as Prof. Siti Nurul Azkiyah, M.Sc., Ph.D..
Invited international speakers from The Ohio State University USA, Leslie Moore, an expert on multicultural education from the USA Sherley Baker, and from the University of Canberra, Australia Prof. Ting Wang, PhD. Invited national speakers who will be present from UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Dede Rosyada, M.A., Prof. Dr. Abd Mu'ti, M.A., Prof. Dr. Saiful Mujani, Prof. Dr. Zulfiani, M.Pd., Prof. Didin Nuruddin Hidayat, M.A., TESOL., Prof. Dr. Ratna Sari Dewi, M.Pd., and Dr. Muhammad Arif. Also present were Prof. Melani Budianta from Universitas Indonesia, Dr. Farhan from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and Zulfa Sakhiyya, PhD from Universitas Negeri Semarang.
ICEMS 2024 will cover a variety of topics in several panels, such as language education, social science/science education, leadership, early childhood education, and religious education to encourage knowledge exchange among academics, researchers, practitioners, and students and build sustainable research collaborations that have a positive impact on the development of educational technology in Indonesia. Expected outcomes include the exchange of innovative ideas, establishment of research collaborations, and publication of selected papers in ICEMS proceedings and reputable journals. The conference is open to students and lecturers in the Faculty of Education from various universities in Indonesia.
