Faculty of Sharia and Qolbun Salim Pesantren Agree to Collaborate on Ulama Cadre Development
Ruang Rapat Madya, UIN Online News – The Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has officially partnered with Ma’had Ihya Qolbun Salim Li’idadil A’immah, a pesantren (Islamic boarding school) dedicated to training ulama (Islamic scholars) led by KH. Tengku Guntur Hasbi. The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) took place on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in the Madya Meeting Room of FSH, marking a strategic step to support the special program of FSH's Comparative Schools of Thought Study Program.
In his remarks, KH. Tengku Guntur Hasbi expressed his appreciation to FSH UIN Jakarta for their trust and shared commitment to nurturing future ulama. "This collaboration is a manifestation of synergy between the university and the pesantren. We at Ma’had Ihya Qolbun Salim are committed to producing ulama cadres who possess noble character before knowledge, do not cause unrest, and are able to embrace all segments of society to foster communal harmony," he stated.
Dean of FSH, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum, M.A., conveyed in his message that this cooperation is a crucial part of FSH UIN Jakarta's vision to produce graduates with a deep understanding of Islam and a moderate stance. "We want to produce Islamic law scholars who are not only academically intelligent but also spiritually and morally strong. Collaboration with pesantren like Ma’had Ihya Qolbun Salim is a concrete step to realize this," he explained.
Through this MoU, FSH and Ma’had Ihya Qolbun Salim have agreed to collaborate on curriculum development, training, and the integration of formal and pesantren education. The hope is that this synergy will produce ulama cadres ready to serve society with a moderate, peaceful approach that upholds the values of Islam rahmatan lil ‘alamin (Islam as a mercy to all creation).
This signing is expected to be a significant milestone in building a strong academic network while simultaneously addressing the challenges of the times, holding steadfast to inclusive and reassuring Islamic values.
