Faculty of Psychology UIN Jakarta and PT Pelni Launch Environmental Awareness Program for Freshmen
UIN Jakarta, UIN Online News — The Faculty of Psychology at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, in collaboration with PT Pelni, continues to demonstrate its commitment to promoting environmental awareness and sustainability by organizing an educational program themed “Enhancing Environmental Awareness and Sustainability” on Thursday (August 28, 2025).
The event was attended by PT Pelni Vice President Tatang R. Dasuki and Dean of the Faculty of Psychology Dr. Yunita Faela Nisa, M.Psi., alongside other faculty leaders and psychology freshmen.
In his remarks, PT Pelni’s Vice President emphasized that the role of students extends beyond the academic sphere, encompassing their everyday lives. He underscored that ecological awareness is a vital component of the broader movement for change led by younger generations, stressing that even the smallest actions can contribute significantly to environmental preservation.
“Students are agents of change. Start with simple actions, such as maximizing reusable plastics, because small steps can bring substantial impact to the sustainability of our planet,” he stated.
As a concrete step to reinforce this commitment, PT Pelni distributed eco-friendly tumblers to all new students as part of an effort to encourage sustainable habits from the outset of their academic journey. These tumblers are expected to be used consistently throughout their studies at the Faculty of Psychology, serving as a tangible symbol of sustainable living—an approach actively promoted by the institution.
Dean of the Faculty of Psychology expressed her appreciation for PT Pelni’s support. “We aim for our students to excel not only academically but also to develop strong ecological awareness. Through this initiative, we hope to instill an environmentally conscious culture from the very beginning of their university experience,” she said.
The program received positive responses from the new students, who not only gained insights into the importance of sustainability but were also motivated to adopt environmentally friendly practices in their daily routines.
