Faculty of Medicine UIN Jakarta Becomes the Third Location for Free Blood Sugar Checks Initiated by UIN Jakarta Clinic

Faculty of Medicine, UIN News Online - The UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Clinic once again conducted free blood sugar checks at the Faculty of Medicine (FK) UIN Jakarta on Friday, July 19, 2024. FK UIN Jakarta is the third location after previous events at the Faculty of Ushuluddin (FU) and the Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Jakarta.

The Head of the Medical Study Program at FK UIN Jakarta, Dr. Marita Fadhilah, Dr.Med.Sc., was present during the screening at FK UIN Jakarta. dr. Marita was one of the 64 participants who underwent the free blood sugar check. These 64 participants included students, lecturers, and staff of UIN Jakarta.

This blood sugar check is part of a screening program conducted by the Social Security Administering Body (BPJS) and is carried out at all First-Level Health Facilities (FKTP), including clinics. Therefore, all active BPJS holders are allowed to participate.

It is known that the free blood sugar check screening, which has received approval from the rector and Syarif Hidayatullah Hospital, will continue to other faculties at UIN Jakarta. In addition to the clinic staff of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, two general practitioners also participated in the screening process.

The Head of UIN Jakarta Clinic, dr. Erwin Hermawan, M.A.R.S., stated that the clinic has sent notification letters about the free blood sugar check to six faculties, and it has already been conducted at three faculties.

“The next three faculties are the Faculty of Health Sciences (Fikes), the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training (FITK), and the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UIN Jakarta,” said Dr. Erwin in a live interview at UIN Jakarta Clinic on Monday, July 22, 2024.

Dr. Erwin explained that most of the screening participants at FK UIN Jakarta had normal blood sugar levels, which were below 140 mg/dL. However, there were two participants, a student and a staff member, whose results exceeded the normal limits. They were interviewed and given further guidance by the doctor.

Participants whose blood sugar levels exceeded the normal limits were advised to check their blood sugar again after a month at a health facility. During this one-month period, they were advised to follow a low-carbohydrate diet and exercise regularly.
