Environmental-Themed Comedy: UIN Jakarta Promotes Green Campus Through Stand-Up Competition

Student Center Hall, UIN Online News — To celebrate the 68th Anniversary of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, a Stand-Up Comedy Competition with the theme Green Campus was held on Tuesday (August 5, 2025) as an educational and expressive platform to address environmental issues. The event was opened to all members of the academic community, including students, faculty, and staff by utilizing a creative artistic approach.

Representing the leadership, the Head of the Bureau of General Administration and Personnel, Dr. Nanang Fatchurochman, S.H., conveyed in his opening remarks that this activity is a concrete step in encouraging the campus community to adopt green campus values in their daily lives.

In his speech regarding Go Green, Dr. Nanang included humorous remarks about the use of tumblers, utilizing bilis (Electric Bus), and promoting energy awareness, serving as a campaign to foster green campus practices within UIN Jakarta.

The Head of the Bureau also expressed his hope that the stand-up comedy event would become a positive outlet for expression for the entire UIN Jakarta academic community. According to him, such activities are not only entertaining but also provide a platform to naturally cultivate talents and interests.

He further encouraged other university leaders to appreciate such an event, as they help create a lively, warm, and cohesive studying atmosphere.

“With the Green Campus theme, we hope that this spirit will inspire all of us to jointly develop green campus programs toward a better future,” he stated.

The competition featured Muhammad Al Jufri, better known as Mal Jupri, a finalist of Stand-Up Comedy Indonesia Season 7, as the main judge. He explained several judging criteria, including delivery, comedic technique, laughs per minute (LPM), theme relevance, and time management in delivering the material.

“Asides of being funny, it is important to stay relevant to the theme and pay attention to delivery techniques. Good comedy not only entertains but also conveys a message” he explained.

Finally, the Stand-Up Comedy Competition concluded with the announcement of winners. High enthusiasm from both participants and the audience were shown throughout the event. This competition became part of UIN Jakarta's effort to integrate creativity, education, and environmental campaigns into a shared space for expression.
