Empowering Women in Society: DWP Ministry of Religious Affairs Hosts Seminar on Social Etiquette and Public Roles
Pondok Gede, UIN News Online — In recognition of the pivotal role women play both in the family and society, the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs held a national seminar titled "Social Etiquette of Women in Public Roles," at the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory, Thursday (10/17/2024). The seminar focused on enhancing the contribution of women as they navigate dual roles in the family, community, and professional life.
The event gathered key figures, including Advisor of DWP Eny Retno Yaqut, Deputy Advisor Tanti Kristiani Dasuki, Chairperson of DWP Hilda Ainissyfa Ali Ramdhani, along with other officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Islamic Religious Universities across Indonesia. Notably, DWP central administrators from UIN Jakarta, led by Hj. Tati Nur Qomaryati Asep Jahar, were also present.
In her keynote speech, Hilda Ainissyfa Ali Ramdhani emphasized the increasing significance of women’s roles in today’s rapidly evolving social landscape. “Women today are essential contributors in all aspects of life, be it in the family, society, or the workforce. Understanding and applying proper social etiquette is key to ensuring we carry out these responsibilities confidently and ethically,” she said.
Hilda expressed her hope that the seminar would equip participants with the knowledge and confidence to fulfill their roles with integrity and grace. “This seminar will enhance our awareness of how to interact effectively in public roles, maintaining respect and professionalism,” she added.
The Advisor of DWP, Eny Retno Yaqut, further highlighted the importance of social ethics, particularly for women balancing multiple roles. She reminded participants of the key role women play in shaping future generations, starting with the education and upbringing of their children. “The foundation of a golden generation begins with women. By fostering strong social ethics, we set the tone not only for our families but for society as a whole,” she stated.
The seminar provided an insightful discussion on topics such as behavior, appearance, and social media etiquette. Eny stressed the importance of embodying ethical standards, especially as public figures. “Our conduct in public is constantly observed, and it’s crucial we act as role models of good ethics.”
Concluding the seminar, DWP representatives presented tokens of appreciation to Eny Retno Yaqut and Tanti Kristiani Dasuki for their dedication during their tenure. In her closing remarks, Eny expressed gratitude for the collective efforts that enabled DWP programs to flourish.
Hj. Tati Nur Qomaryati Asep Jahar, representing UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, praised the relevance of the seminar's theme. She emphasized the strategic role of women in modern society, noting that women are integral to fostering future generations imbued with strong ethics. “Women, especially those in DWP, must continue to develop both in knowledge and social competence, laying the groundwork for harmony in family and community,” she remarked.
Tati encouraged more women to actively participate in various sectors, emphasizing that setting a good example is key to strengthening the position of women in national development. “By leading with integrity and responsibility, we contribute not only to our families but to the broader society,” she concluded.
