Efficiency, Transparency, and Digitalization: Kemenag's Roadmap for Modern Institutional Management
Diorama Room, UIN Online News — The Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenag RI) underscored the importance of efficiency, transparency, and digitalization in workplace management during a Coordination Meeting on the Duties and Functions of the General Affairs Bureau, held on Tuesday (September 2, 2025) and chaired by Minister of Religious Affairs, Prof. Dr. Nasaruddin Umar, M.A.
The forum brought together heads of General Affairs Bureaus from Religious State Higher Education Institutions (PTKN), administrative and general affairs chiefs, subdivision heads, as well as representatives from Kemenag and other PTKN entities.
Minister Nasaruddin emphasized that efficiency must begin with simple yet impactful measures, such as the prudent use of ablution water, electricity, and public facilities and services.
“Every economic resource must be justifiable, including facilities like tennis courts, whose use should be regulated and reasonably commercialized,” he stressed.
Beyond efficiency, Nasaruddin Umar highlighted the critical role of transparency in managing state assets, urging officials and related units to refrain from excessive or unauthorized use of facilities that could result in financial losses.
“There must be no off-budget funds managed without clear accountability,” he asserted.
He further emphasized the need for professional workspace and archival management. Archives, he noted, should not only be maintained in physical form but also digitally, ensuring their security even in the event of incidents such as fires.
“Archives are part of state confidentiality. They must not leak to unauthorized parties,” he warned.
Looking ahead, Minister Nasaruddin urged the acceleration of workplace digitalization to improve both comfort and coordination efficiency. Through digital systems, the movement of officials can be monitored, meetings conducted online, and instructions disseminated without requiring physical attendance.
“There is no need for officials to travel across regions merely to attend one-hour briefings since there's nothing wrong with fully utilizing digital platforms,” he argued.
By implementing these measures—efficiency, transparency, and digitalization—Kemenag aims to modernize institutional governance, ensure greater accountability, and enhance the delivery of quality public services.
