The dialysis installation of UIN Jakarta Hajj Hospital is a health unit to treat patients who have a history of kidney problems. In the inauguration of the dialysis installation, an educational seminar on kidney health was also held with guest speaker Dr Kuspuji Dwitanto Rahardjo, Sp. PD-KGH, an expert in Internal Medicine and Kidney Hypertension (KGH).

According to Dr Kuspuji, maintaining kidney health is very important. The kidneys are organs that play an important role in maintaining fluid balance, filtering blood, and regulating blood pressure in the human body. Unhealthy lifestyles and bad habits can put great pressure on the kidneys, resulting in unhealthy kidneys.

Dr Kuspuji emphasises the importance of consuming adequate water for the health of the body. Drinking enough water is very important for kidney health. Water helps the process of filtering waste and toxins from the human body through the kidneys. Lack of water intake can increase the risk of kidney stone formation and affect overall kidney function.

In addition, he also revealed that a balanced diet has a huge impact on kidney health. Eating healthy foods that are low in salt and fat, and rich in fibre, vitamins, and minerals is key to maintaining kidney health.

"Reducing salt consumption can help control blood pressure, which is a major risk factor for chronic kidney disease," she said.

Not to forget, she also informed that regular physical activity is highly recommended for kidney health. Exercise is not only good for the heart and general health, but can also help improve blood flow to the kidneys.

The internal medicine specialist also warned about the dangers of smoking and alcohol consumption. Smoking and drinking alcohol can damage blood vessels, including the kidneys. Smoking and consuming alcohol can reduce blood flow to the kidneys and cause long-term damage. Dr Kuspuji suggested that to avoid kidney disease, you should not smoke and consume alcoholic beverages.

At the end of his presentation on kidney health, dr Kuspuji emphasised the importance of regular kidney health monitoring, especially for those who have certain risk factors such as diabetes or hypertension. Regular checks of blood and urine tests are highly recommended as they can help detect kidney problems as early as possible, so that preventive measures or treatment of kidney disease can be carried out quickly.
