Don’t be afraid of vaccination, the Rector says
Rectorate, UIN News Online – Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis encourages the entire academic community of UIN Jakarta to be not be afraid of undergoing Covid-19 vaccination, because the Sinovac vaccine have been declared safe and halal by Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and Indonesian Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM).
This was said by Rector Amany in her speech during webinar entitled “Takut Vaksin Covid-19? Yuk Kenali Lebih Dekat!”, organized by the Faculty of Health Sciences UIN Jakarta and the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) UIN Jakarta on Thursday (03/04/2021).
According to Amany, the government is currently implementing a Covid-19 vaccine program. UIN Jakarta certainly has to provide the foremost example to carry out this vaccination program.
“This vaccination program is one of the government's efforts to prevent the spread of Covid -19,” said Rector
Fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Number 2, 2021 concerning on the halal status of the Sinovac vaccine, she continued, confirmed that the Sinovac vaccine is clean and halal. Therefore, there should be no confusion within the community to refuse vaccines.
“Let’s get vaccinated with joyous feelings. May all our efforts be blessed by Allah SWT,” she said.
On the same occasion, lecturer at the Pharmacy Study Program at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Mita Restinia explained that the government has targeted to vaccinate 181 million people or or around 80 percent of Indonesia's population.
“The Sinovac vaccine has passed clinical trials and is proven safe to use. The efficacy of the Sinovac is more than 50 percent according to WHO standards, and the side effects will go away on their own after some time,” said Mita. (usa)
