Dharma Wanita UIN Jakarta: Strengthening the Role of Women in Family and Organization

Diorama Room, UIN News Online — The Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of UIN Jakarta held a seminar themed "Quality Women in Family and Organization," attended by the wives of Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) officials, including Eni Yaqut, DWP UIN Jakarta members, the wives of campus officials, female staff, and faculty representatives. The event, aimed at strengthening the role of women, took place in the Diorama Room on Monday, July 29, 2024.

Tati Nur Qomariyati, S.E., Chairwoman of DWP UIN Jakarta, outlined various activities conducted by DWP in her report, including working meetings, cafeteria ventures, mental health seminars, and visits to orphanages. However, she also mentioned challenges in finding active and participatory members, which often hinder the implementation of DWP programs.

"The challenge lies in finding active and passive members," she noted.

Hilda Ainissyifa Ramdhani, Chairwoman of DWP Kemenag, emphasized in her speech that DWP is a large organization comprising the wives of civil servants (ASN). This organization has great potential to contribute more broadly, referring to Law No. 13 of 2017 regarding the duties and functions of DWP.

"We have a more active role and should serve as agents of tabayun, understanding the vision and mission of the Ministry of Religious Affairs," she stated.

Eni Yaqut, the keynote speaker at the seminar, presented on the importance of quality women in family and organizational settings. She highlighted various aspects that constitute a quality woman, such as self-confidence, self-respect, independence, empathy, emotional and intellectual maturity, and the ability to plan and achieve goals.

"Our involvement is crucial. Today's event is intended as a brainstorming session," she remarked.

According to Eni, challenges in motivating women to take active roles in the organization include fear, indifference, and self-doubt. The solutions to these challenges involve building a sense of urgency, providing hope for the future, sharing inspirational stories, and enhancing solidarity among members.

"The value of a leader is determined by their ability to achieve results through those under their supervision and their influence on them," she concluded. (Ken Devina)
