DEMA FIKES holds public speaking training
Ciputat, UIN News Online – In order to improve student communication skills, the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) UIN Jakarta through the Student Executive Board (DEMA) held a Public Speaking training activity, Saturday (09/19/2020) at the MK Tadjuddin Auditorium and Zoom Meeting application.
DEMA Chairman Rifqi Ridho in his remarks expressed his enthusiasm in carrying carry out various positive activities even in the middle of Covid-19 pandemic situation.
According to him, the impact resulting from the current condition greatly affects every activity that has been previously planned. Even so, he said that he had adjusted so that this activity would continue as planned and will provide benefits to students.
“Hopefully this activity can have an impact on the participants, both directly and virtually,” he hoped.
He also added that this training aims to develop one's potential so that they can speak well and apply it to everyday life. Ridho quoted a proverb of an Egyptian cleric which says, one bullet can only penetrate one head, while one word can penetrate millions of heads.
“We can all make an impact with just one word. Therefore, the importance of this activity is to be given to students of FIKESUIN Jakarta,” said Ridho.
Meanwhile, Deputy Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni Affairs Ida Rosyidah in her opening remarks said that 8 out of 10 people are unable to speak in public. Thus, this activity becomes an important thing, especially for FIKES students who will later work in the community.
“It takes a good character to build mental and self-confidence,” she said.
With the holding of this activity, she continued, it is hoped that students can cultivate and explore the potential that exists within each of them, both conceptually and practically.
“"With the provision of good communication, he said, information about health can be conveyed properly by students," said Ida.
By raising the theme “Good Communication Skill for Better Presentation and Self Convidence”, this event presented Ahmad Syarif and Ircham Surahman as speakers.
Ahmad Syarif in his presentation explained that each era has a different style of communication. Currently, he said, we have entered the millennial era, so that requires someone to know the existing communication science.
“Intrapersonal intelligence and interpersonal intelligence are one of the basic patterns of communication that a good public speaker must have. How to create an interactive atmosphere and influence someone,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ircham Surahman in his presentation puts more emphasis on the foundation and structure of being a Master Cheremony (MC). According to him, an MC is responsible for the program from beginning to end.
"However, there are 2 things that are most important in communicating, namely how we learn to be actors and how do we become learners," he said. (usa/annisa/mf)
