DEMA FIDK holds social activity in Brebes
Brebes, UIN News Online – Student Executive Board (Dema) Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Sciences (FIDK) UIN Jakarta held a social service (baksos) in Capar Village, Salem District, Brebes Regency, Central Java, on 1-15 February 2019. The activity involved around 150 FDIK students from five majors and held in order to fill the odd semester holiday.
The Chair of the Committee, Vieri Pratama, said that social services were filled with various activities, both physical and non-physical. Among them are the construction of mini library, basic necessities, bazaars distribution, health checks, children's and adolescent studies, teaching, and various competitions and games.
“For this year, the location of our activities is centered in Capar Village, Salem District, Brebes. Last year, the village was hit by a landslide,” he said.
Technically, the social service activities are not much different from the implementation of community outreach program (KKN). In this case, students plunge mingle with the community in carrying out work programs.
“If KKN is held during study time, social services are actually held in the holiday season,” he said
Meanwhile, Chairman of Dema FDIK Ali Alatas revealed, this event was always held every year in a different place. Besides aiming to implement knowledge and skills to the community, this activity is also one of the practices of the three pillars of higher education, namely community service.
He also said that this activity was supported by various groups, especially the sponsors and several autonomous and semi-autonomous institutions in the faculty.
