DEMA FDIKOM UIN Jakarta Expands the Meaning of Community Service Through Charity Event at YPMS Kedaung Orphanage
Ciputat, UIN News Online - The Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Sciences (DEMA FDIKOM) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta organized a two-day Social Service (Bansos) FDIKOM 2026 program. The initiative aimed to foster students' social awareness through the distribution of aid, as well as educational and recreational activities with orphanage children. The event took place at the YPMS Kedaung Orphanage (18/10/2026).
The series of activities encompassed the distribution of wearable clothing, books, and financial aid, alongside interactive sessions including fun learning, friendly competitions, and art performances. Led by the President of DEMA FDIKOM UIN Jakarta, Zidan Ramdani, and Project Director of Bansos FDIKOM 2026, Raffi Pratama, the event combined material relief with direct interaction to build meaningful togetherness with the children.
Zidan Ramdani explained that social service forms an integral part of students' responsibility to cultivate closeness with the community and heighten sensitivity toward social issues. According to him, community service is measured not only by the aid provided, but also by the active presence of students in building human connections.
“For us, community service is not merely about what can be given, but also about how we can be present, share joy, and build human connections. We want this activity to serve as a platform for students to learn to understand society while cultivating genuine empathy,” Zidan stated.
This approach was materialized through collaborative learning, fun competitions, and art performances involving the orphanage children. These activities offered a space for the children to learn in a joyful environment, develop creativity, and express their talents.
Project Director of Bansos FDIKOM 2026, Raffi Pratama, shared that the agenda was designed so that the benefits of the social service extended beyond material assistance. Student engagement in shared activities with the children proved essential in creating togetherness and a memorable experience.
“We wanted Bansos FDIKOM 2026 to be more than just an aid distribution event; we aimed to bring happiness and memorable experiences to the children. Through fun learning, competitions, and art performances, we hoped they could enjoy the togetherness, learn new things, and feel the care and attention from university students,” Raffi expressed.
Through Bansos FDIKOM 2026, DEMA FDIKOM UIN Jakarta strives to reinforce a culture of community service that integrates social concern, education, and direct engagement to foster solidarity while delivering a positive impact for the community.
