DEMA Faculty of Ushuluddin distributes disaster care assistance

FU, UIN News Online – Severe flooding in and around several regions of Indonesia in the last few days have raised concerns from various parties, including the Student Executive Council (DEMA) Faculty of Ushuluddin (FU) UIN Jakarta. Therefore, DEMA FU distributed logistical assistance to flood victims in the Pancoran area, South Jakarta. The social service activity of DEMA FU UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta received a positive response from local residents.

One of the FU DEMA administrator, Agung Fauzi, said that this social service activity was a form of student concern for the Indonesian people affected by disasters, especially in the Pancoran area, South Jakarta.

“We are very concerned about the recent disasters, especially for the people affected in  the Pancoran area, South Jakarta,” he said.

Agung explained, from 22 January 2021 to 10 February 2021, DEMA FU has opened a charity fundraising. The donations collected were in the form of basic necessities, then handed over directly by Dema FU UIN Jakarta to Pancoran residents.

“We distributed logistical assistance in the form of basic necessities directly to affected residents in the area,” said Agung.

When confirmed via WhatsApp, the Chairperson of DEMA FU, Rafi Syuja 'Zhafran said, the assistance provided was a form of concern for UIN Jakarta students to help and actively participate in recent social issues

“This activity is to measure whether today students still have a social and communal spirit? Considering that we are in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic, the community has started to show an individualistic nature and does not think about the people around them. Therefore, we, as students have to go forward and be at the forefront to provide assistance,” said Rafi.

Meanwhile, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni and Cooperation, Edwin Syarip said, this activity was carried out in order to realize the Three Pillars of Higher Education in the field of community service.

“The management of DEMA FU UIN Jakarta has carried out humanitarian activities as a form of community service. They are practicing the values of Islamic teachings and the values of Pancasila. When they graduate, they will realize that they will return to community and develop their respective regions,” said Edwin on Wednesday (02/24/2021).

In addition, he also hopes that he hopes that this assistance can ease the burden on the residents affected by the disaster. “To our fellow students, let's work hand in hand to help our brothers and sisters who are deeply affected by the disaster,” he concluded. (usa/man/m.nts)
