Dedicated Academician and Expert Politician, Profile of The New General Chairperson of IKALUIN
Alumni Center, UIN News Online – The Alumni Association of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (IKALUIN) Jakarta hosted its Grand Reunion and National Conference (Munas) VI for 2025 at the IKALUIN Alumni Center on Saturday (01/18/2025). The event served as both a gathering for alumni and an important forum for electing the General Chairperson of IKALUIN for the 2025–2029 period.
In the election, Tb. Ace Hasan Syadzily was reelected as the Chairperson of IKALUIN Jakarta, continuing his leadership for another four years. Notably, Ace also serves as the Governor of the Indonesian National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) under President Prabowo Subianto’s administration.
Born in Pandeglang, Banten, on September 19, 1976, Tb. Ace Hasan Syadzily is the son of KH. Tb A. Rafei Ali and Hj. Siti Sutihat, the caretakers of the Annizhomiyyah Islamic Boarding School. Growing up in an environment rooted in pesantren traditions and political activism, Ace developed a deep understanding of both religious and civic responsibilities.
Ace completed his undergraduate studies in Arabic Language and Literature at the Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Jakarta in 2001. He later pursued a Master’s degree in Anthropology at the University of Indonesia and earned a Doctorate in Government Science from Padjadjaran University.
During his student years, Ace was an active campus leader. He served as the Chairman of the Student Association of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature (1995–1997), Chairman of the Student Senate of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities (1997–1998), and President of the Student Executive Board of UIN Jakarta (1998–2000). His leadership and activism extended to numerous student forums, solidifying his commitment to social and political issues.
Ace’s professional journey is marked by significant achievements in both politics and academia. He began his career as a member of the House of Representatives (DPR), serving on the Eighth Commission on Religion and Social Affairs in 2013 and later on the Second Commission for Domestic Politics in 2016.
In addition to his political career, Ace has made substantial contributions to academia. He is a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business at UIN Jakarta and a postgraduate lecturer at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University in Serang, Banten. A prolific writer, Ace has authored numerous works on social, political, and cultural issues, including: Mencari Akar Kultural Civil Society di Indonesia, Civil Society & Demokrasi: Survey tentang Partisipasi Sosial-Politik Warga Jakarta, Arifin Ilham: Dai Kota Penabur Kedamaian Jiwa, Keniscayaan Globalisasi & Nasib Civil Society, and Desentralisasi, Otonomi, dan Pemekaran Daerah di Indonesia.
With his extensive experience and dedication, Ace is expected to lead IKALUIN Jakarta toward new heights during his tenure. “This is a time to strengthen our alumni network and further contribute to the academic, social, and cultural development of our alma mater and society,” said Ace during his acceptance speech.
The Grand Reunion and National Conference VI marks another milestone in the history of IKALUIN Jakarta, paving the way for a more dynamic and impactful alumni association under Ace Hasan Syadzily’s leadership.
