Dean of FSH encourages the Audit of Legislations to be in Accordance With the Values of Pancasila

Jakarta, UIN News Online – The commemoration of Pancasila Day, which is commemorated on June 1, 2022, is a momentum to conduct an audit of every statutory to match with the values of Pancasila. This step is important to ensure that the administration of the state is in accordance with Pancasila.

This was said by the Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie to UIN News Online after taking part in the virtual celebration of Pancasila Day with the President in Jakarta, Wednesday (06/01/2022).

According to Tholabi, there are two patterns to ensure that every legal product is in accordance with the values of Pancasila. First, to ensure that the values of Pancasila are contained in every legal norm, starting from the planning of each legal product in all types of legislation, both at the central and local government levels.

This step is taken seriously by the legislators by ensuring that the philosophical aspects of the formation of laws and regulations are accommodated in the formulation of the laws and regulations.

“By involving as much public participation as possible, this becomes one of the instruments to produce legal product designs to be in accordance with the values of Pancasila,” said Tholabi.

Second, by taking proactive steps from the legislators to make changes to any legal products that are indicated to be inconsistent with the spirit of Pancasila.

“This step can be carried out through a legislative review mechanism if the legal product is produced jointly between the executive and the legislature at the center or the region or through an executive review if the legal product is produced by the executive,” he said.

In order to achieve this, Tholabi emphasized that it was a concrete step to ensure that every statutory regulation was in accordance with Pancasila.

“I think the Agency for Pancasila Ideology Educationcan (BPIP) can lead these efforts. Moreover, BPIP is directly responsible to the President,” he concluded. (ns/usa)
