Day Two of the 141st Graduation Ceremony: 765 Graduates from Three UIN Jakarta Faculties Conferred Degrees; Emphasis Placed on Integrity and Humanitarian Values
Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Online News – A total of 765 graduates—out of 3,154—from the 141st Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral commencement ceremony at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta have been officially conferred their degrees. Carrying the theme "Confirming Graduates Who Are Innovative, Principled, and Impactful for Humanity," the event was held in a lively atmosphere at the Harun Nasution Auditorium on the second day of the 141st Graduation Open Senate Session, Sunday (September 6, 2026).
The 765 graduates conferred came from three faculties: the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) with 416 graduates, the Faculty of Ushuluddin (FU) with 215 graduates, and the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) with 134 graduates.
This 141st graduation ceremony was attended by the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D.; the Senate Secretary, Prof. Bambang Suryadi, M.A., Ph.D.; and the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie, S.Ag., S.H., M.A., M.H. Also present were deans, unit heads, lecturers, educational staff, graduates' families, and a guest representative from the UIN Jakarta Alumni Association (IKALUIN), Syukri Rahmatullah, M.I.Kom.
In his remarks, the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar emphasized that graduation is not merely a matter of academic achievement on paper; rather, it is about how alumni can make a tangible impact on society through their work, in alignment with the values of Innovation, Green, and Humanity.
“Integrity is crucial for the challenges that lie ahead. It is about the values we uphold; as UIN Jakarta alumni, you possess added value through the integration of knowledge—combining theology and science—grounded in spirituality,” said Prof. Asep.
Prof. Asep also emphasized that a sense of humanity stems from those spiritual values. Therefore......degrees and Grade Point Averages (GPA) achieved must be balanced with tangible contributions.
“What do you bring for society? Just a piece of paper? Pride in your GPA or your degree? It is not merely that; what society awaits is how we can contribute and ensure our presence has a positive impact,” he emphasized.
Echoing the Rector’s sentiments, the Senate Secretary, Bambang Suryadi, M.A., Ph.D., reminded everyone of the importance of maintaining a balance between intellectual intelligence and morality so that the knowledge acquired is not misused.
“Intelligence without integrity can lose its way, and expertise without morality can be misused. Integrity is the alignment of thoughts, words, and actions. Be initiators and drivers of change,” he said.
Inspiration also came from an IKALUIN representative, Syukri Rahmatullah, M.I.Kom. An alumnus of the Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH)—who currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of BeritaSatu.com—he shared the story of his journey in the professional world. Addressing the challenges of the professional world, Syukri emphasized the importance of adhering to a principle of continuous growth—improving by one percent each day—and having the courage to step out of one's comfort zone.
“I have always upheld the integrity and reputation of UIN Jakarta and the alma mater where I gained my education. My GPA wasn't high back then, and I wasn't a popular student. However, I consistently applied the principle of one-percent improvement, eventually allowing me to complete my master's degree with *cum laude* honors,” Syukri revealed.
He also advised recent graduates not to be passive in their search for employment opportunities and encouraged them to be capable of creating new jobs.
“After graduating, keep enhancing both your hard skills and soft skills. Knock on every door to build your network. If those avenues don't open a path, create your own work. I hope today’s graduates will not merely be job seekers, but also job creators,” he added.
Syukri noted that his alma mater, UIN Jakarta, helped shape his character and life path, even though his career trajectory differed significantly from his educational background.
“I am an example of someone who got lost on the right path. Law graduates usually become judges or lawyers, but I ‘got lost’ and became a journalist. The key is to keep moving forward. We are never truly shaped unless we face some bumps in the road. While on campus, don’t just go to class and go home; get involved in organizations and participate in various activities to hone your skills,” he explained.
The ceremony continued with the reading of the UIN Jakarta Rector’s Decree Number 516 of 2026, announcing the top graduates from each faculty. These top graduates included Muhammad Khoirurrozikin from the Faculty of Ushuluddin (FU) with a GPA of 3.97, and A. Sayyidul Afkar from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB)—specifically the Sharia Banking program—also with a GPA of 3.97. Next was Khaerul Umam from the Faculty of Ushuluddin (FU)—majoring in Quranic Studies and Exegesis—with a GPA of 3.96. Finally, the *cum laude* graduate from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES)—specifically the Pharmacy program—with a GPA of 3.92, is Nurul Hidayah.
Furthermore, the event proceeded with the presentation of the Alumni Magazine, the shifting of the graduation cap tassel by the deans and vice-deans of the respective faculties, and the recitation of the Bachelor's Pledge.
Nurul Hidayah—the top graduate from the UIN Jakarta Faculty of Health Sciences (Pharmacy) with a GPA of 3.92—shared that her success was driven by her active participation in the KSE Jakarta Scholarship Recipients' Association and her internship experience......Indonesian Pharmacist Youth Group (IYPG) DKI Jakarta, alongside the academic challenge of completing a thesis using an experimental research method that was relatively new in Indonesia.
“The biggest challenge during my studies was the thesis research. Because I used a method and test animals that were new to the field of pharmacy, I had to go through a process of trial and error. However, thanks to the support of my academic supervisor, the research was successfully completed. I am now proceeding directly to the Pharmacist Professional Education program,” he said.
To conclude the inauguration ceremony, all graduates recited the *Prasetya Sarjana* (Bachelor’s Pledge), led by the Faculty of Ushuluddin’s (FU) top graduate, Khaerul Umam.
“As Muslim graduates, we will faithfully and loyally uphold Islamic teachings and remain ever-mindful of our responsibilities toward the welfare of the *Ummah* (community), the future of the nation, and the Republic of Indonesia, grounded in *Pancasila* and the 1945 Constitution.” ...the graduates asserted.
Furthermore, the 141st Graduation Ceremony of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta will continue with subsequent sessions on the upcoming Saturday and Sunday (September 12–13, 2026) at the UIN Jakarta Campus I.
