FDIK, UIN News Online – Da'wah Management Master’s Progeram holds the first offline Studium Generale themed “Peran Lembaga Filantropi Dalam Membangun Kemandirian Umat Di Era New Normal”, Monday, October 10, 2022 at the FDIK Theater Room, campus I of UIN Jakarta.
The Studium Generale also opens up opportunities for the general public in various regions, especially students, activists and scholars to be able to take part in this activity online through the zoom meeting application provided by the organizing committee.
Moderated by Derysmono, this event presents Muhammad Zein and Kushardanta Susilabudi as speakers. This event was officially opened by the Deputy Dean of General Administration FDIK UIN Jakarta Shihabudin Noor.
Kushardanta Susilabudi in his presentation explained how philanthropic institutions can play a greater role in building the independence of the people. According to Kushardanta, First, the role of philanthropic institutions should be more innovative, especially in the management of waqf, not only regarding waqf of madrasas, mosques and graves, but also for waqf of facilities that support tourism such as hotels. Second, the role of philanthropic institutions should be transparent in public accountability, third, there should be an integration of zakat mustahiq data, so that there is no overlap in the distribution of zakat.
“Fourth, philanthropic institutions are required to make sustainable programs,” he said.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Zein said that the role of philanthropic institutions is not only to distribute zakat for consumptive purposes but more to the purpose of community empowerment. “So that philanthropic institutions can achieve the goal of zakat 4 M (turning mustahiq into Muzakki),” said Muhammad Zein.
During the event, the participants seemed very enthusiastic in following the course of this activity. This is evidenced by the many questions raised by participants to the speakers. (fdik/usa)
