Cultivating Future Islamic Scholars: UIN Jakarta Welcomes Sukabumi Madrasah, Offering Specialized Fellowships for Santri
AAKK Bureau Meeting Room, UIN Online News – UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta hosted an academic visitation from Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Alwasilah Lilhasanah, Sukabumi. The welcoming forum took place at the Meeting Room of the Bureau for Academic, Student Affairs, and Cooperation (AAKK) on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
The institutional visit was curated to provide comprehensive data regarding new student admission tracks, explore strategic partnership opportunities, and introduce UIN Jakarta’s academic ecosystem to the executive leadership of MA Alwasilah Lilhasanah.
In his opening address, the Principal of MA Alwasilah Lilhasanah Sukabumi, Didim Dimyati, explained that their educational institution operates in full integration with an Islamic boarding school (pesantren). Originating as a grassroots social foundation dedicated to building community houses of worship, the organization has funded and managed the construction of approximately 900 mosques across various regions in Indonesia up until 2025.
“Through this academic visit, we aim to map out collaborative opportunities that can be advanced collectively, while exploring the academic pathways our students can secure at this university in the near future,” he stated.
Responding to these institutional hopes, the Head of the UIN Jakarta Information and Public Relations Center (PIH), Zaenal Muttaqin, stated that the university deliberately invited executive representatives from core religious faculties, including the Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyah (FDI), the Faculty of Ushuluddin (FU), and the Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH). This step ensures that prospective students are directly introduced to relevant, high-compatibility academic departments.
“It would be a missed opportunity if this visit was merely a generic tour. Instead, we are actively matchmaking your students with the specific faculties that match their unique educational backgrounds,” he noted.
He further broke down the specialized tracks available exclusively for boarding school students (santri). Among the flagship financial aid schemes is the Public Service Agency (BLU) Scholarship, commonly designated as the Ulama Regeneration Fellowship (Beasiswa Perkaderan Ulama). This track is specifically engineered for students undertaking advanced, rigorous Islamic studies at FDI, FU, and FSH, featuring an entrance examination that tests the candidates' fluency in analyzing classical Arabic texts (Kitab Kuning).
Additionally, UIN Jakarta provides the Academic Merit Fellowship for Quran memorizers with a minimum standard of 15 Juz, complete with a dedicated annual university graduation honor. For students wishing to compete via standard entry tracks, the central admissions team continues to provide open access across all general majors.
Zaenal also emphasized UIN Jakarta's academic elite status paired with institutional affordability, noting that 68 percent of the university's academic majors have officially secured the highest national accreditation tier ("Unggul").
“There may be an outside perception that studying in the capital is expensive, but it ultimately depends on individual lifestyle choices. Here, a large portion of our student body embraces an economical way of living, utilizing our university dormitory (Ma'had) facilities which cost approximately 3.5 million rupiah per year,” he clarified.
Concluding the event, the Principal of MA Alwasilah Lilhasanah, Didim Dimyati, stated that this academic visitation was organized in response to a sharp spike in student enrollment interest toward UIN Jakarta over the past two fiscal years.
“Our administrative decision to execute this visit is driven by our students' data. Tracking our graduation trends over the last two years, student interest in enrolling at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has risen significantly. Therefore, we want to open this pipeline directly,” he explained.
Didim added that UIN Jakarta’s global prestige as a top-tier higher education hub, particularly in progressive Islamic scholarship, serves as the primary anchor for their students. “UIN Jakarta stands as one of the finest higher education institutions in the nation. In the realm of advanced Islamic philosophy and law, this university remains the ultimate destination coveted by our students,” he concluded.
