CSRC UIN Jakarta holds journalism training from the perspective of religious moderation

Ciputat, UIN News Online – Center for the Study of Religion and Culture (CSRC) UIN Jakarta holds journalism training from the perspective of religious moderation at Islamic higher education institution on Monday (07/06/2020) through zoom application. The training is expected to is expected to strengthen the role of journalism in fostering national commitment, accepting the diversity, and  accommodation for local culture in campus environment.

The training, which was attended by dozens of young journalists from various campus media and functional media relations was opened by CSRC UIN Jakarta Executive Director Idris Hemay. Also present in the event, Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis.

Idris said, this journalistic training was carried out in the hope that it could foster a spirit of religious moderation in the country through various media networks. The religious moderation perspective itself, he explained, was needed in maintaining the pluralistic life of Indonesian society.

“I hope this activity can provide religious moderation perspective insight in implementing journalistic tasks,” he hoped.

Meanwhile, the Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis in his remarks said that this kind of training is needed to strengthen the harmonious life of a pluralistic Indonesian society.

“Journalist had a noble duty to encourage the growth of tolerance, justice, and equality as the core of religious moderation,” said Rector.

Considering the importance of journalistic assignments, the Rector also sees that journalistic tasks are similar to research assignments that explore qualitative and quantitative social facts to be formulated and presented as clear and beneficial reports to the community. “I hope this training can support the quality improvement of journalistic work in encouraging religious moderation,” she hoped.

For information, the journalistic training was scheduled to take place in several sessions with various topics such as religious moderation as a perspective of journalistic assignment, campus media strategy in mainstreaming religious moderation, and reporting techniques based on religious moderation. A number of expert speakers such as Professor Muhammad Ridwan Lubis and Professor Muhammad Adlin Sila were also scheduled to become resource persons at this training. (usa/zm)
