Conferral of the Satyalancana Karya Satya award during the 81st Indonesian Independence Day ceremony at UIN Jakarta
Main Field, UIN News Online – UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a flag ceremony to commemorate the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia at the UIN Jakarta Main Field on Monday (17/8/2026). The ceremony also served as a momentous occasion for conferring the Satyalancana Karya Satya honorary awards upon five members of the UIN Jakarta academic community for their 10, 20, and 30 years of dedicated service.
The ceremony was attended by university leadership, faculty members, administrative staff, and the broader UIN Jakarta academic community. Presiding as the Ceremony Inspector was the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D.
The Satyalancana Karya Satya for 30 years of service was awarded to the Vice Rector for Cooperation and Institutional Affairs, who is also a Lecturer at the Faculty of Usuluddin, Din Wahid, M.A., Ph.D., as well as a Lecturer at the Faculty of Sharia and Law, Dr. Abu Tamrin, S.H., M.Hum.
Furthermore, the award for 20 years of service was bestowed upon Administrative and Technical Staff at the Faculty of Medicine, Kriswanto, S.T., and Lecturer at the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, Sholikatus Sa'diyah, M.Pd. Meanwhile, the 10-year service award was presented to IT and Technical Staff at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Edi Setiawan, S.T.
In his address, Prof. Asep stated that commemorating Independence Day goes beyond simply reminiscing about history; rather, it represents a sacred trust that must be carried forward through ongoing commitment aligned with the challenges of the times. According to him, the academic community bears the responsibility to honor this independence through their scholarly work and dedication in their respective fields.
“Gratitude for independence is not merely expressed by looking back at history. We must understand it as a solemn duty to be fulfilled and advanced through continued dedication relevant to contemporary challenges,” Prof. Asep emphasized.
In the context of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep added that higher education institutions must not only produce graduates, but also generate knowledge, innovative ideas, and actionable solutions that address societal needs and support national development.
“UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta must remain an integral part of the nation’s intellectual pillar, a strategic partner in development, and a nurturing environment for a generation of Indonesians who are knowledgeable, possessing integrity, strong character, and a profound sense of patriotism,” he asserted.
The award presentation was one of the central highlights of the 81st Indonesian Independence Day commemoration at UIN Jakarta. The Satyalancana Karya Satya is an honorary medal conferred in recognition of civil servants' loyalty and exemplary dedication throughout their tenure. During the proceedings, the reading of the Presidential Decree was followed by the symbolic pinning of the medals by the Ceremony Inspector.
Two to Three Decades of Dedication: Continuously Creating and Adapting
For the recipients of the Satyalancana Karya Satya, the honor represents more than just appreciation for years of service; it is also a catalyst to continuously enhance their contributions amidst evolving times.
Din Wahid, M.A., Ph.D., recipient of the 30-year Satyalancana Karya Satya, viewed the award as an inspiration to keep innovating. He noted that the core responsibilities of a lecturer encompass education, research, and community service.
“Receiving this award today, so to speak, boosts our dedication and enthusiasm,” said Din Wahid.
He explained that dedication as a faculty member can be manifested through various avenues, ranging from teaching and mentoring students to conducting research and publishing impactful scholarly work for both academia and society at large.
“What matters most is our commitment to producing meaningful work. That means teaching, conducting research, and producing higher-quality publications that can benefit the academic community and the broader public,” he explained.
According to Din Wahid, receiving an award should not be regarded as the culmination of one’s journey of service. On the contrary, it should serve as an impetus to sustain passion and uphold the duties of an educator.
A similar sentiment was shared by Sholikatus Sa'diyah, M.Pd., recipient of the 20-year Satyalancana Karya Satya from the Faculty of Adab and Humanities. She reflected that two decades of service have brought distinct challenges, especially with rapid technological advancements and shifting methodologies in the educational landscape.
“The challenges have been considerable. Back then, teaching was purely book-based, but with modern advancements, we now need to adapt and implement various digital platforms,” Sholikatus remarked.
She emphasized that these changes require educators to continually build their capacity. Participating in training and professional development programs is essential to staying abreast of evolving times while upholding the quality of one's service.
Thus, the journey of service symbolized by the Satyalancana Karya Satya is not merely about the duration of tenure, but also about the enduring capacity to contribute and dynamically adapt to change.
