Conducting research on Rural Economic Communities, Professor of UIN Jakarta wins the 2021 AIS Award
Rectorate, UIN News Online – Professor from the Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Jakarta Amelia Fauzia along with her research colleagues were awarded The Association for Information Systems (AIS) Impact Award 2021 or AIS Award 2021 from The Association for Information Systems. The award was given after Amelia and her colleagues conducted research on empowering small and medium-sized rural women entrepreneurs through digital technology in three Indonesian provinces.
Information on the award was received by BERITA UIN Online from the official publication of The Association for Information Systems, Monday (01/17/2022). The association said that the award goes to every individual and community who has worked hard to educate, research and serve in their respective sector.
The research, entitled Women Economic Empowerment through Digital Technologies and Tolerance Values, was conducted throughout 2018-2021 by examining how digital technology is used for women micro, small and medium enterprises in rural areas in West Java, West Nusa Tenggara, and South Sulawesi.
The research is also supported by a number of institutions, notably The Ford Foundation and the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs.
In addition to Amelia and her colleagues, the Association also awarded the AIS Award 2021 to four other groups of researchers who are researching the use of digital technology in various sectors. Among them are Joe Valacich and Jeff Jenkins for the Neuro-ID Behavioral Analytics program and Edgar Whitley and Roser Pujadas for the Consumer Privacy Regulation project in the UK Financial Services.
Contacted separately, Professor Amelia expressed her gratitude to the leadership and colleagues at UIN Jakarta who always supported her in conducting this research. Amelia also revealed that the 2021 AIS Award she received was a form of recognition for the field of humanities, which in fact can contribute to the world of economics and technological development.
“Multidisciplinary research is crucial to help find solutions to economic and social disparities,” she said.
Amelia also expressed her gratitude for the various collaborations between the research division of the Social Trust Fund of the UIN Jakarta Social Trust Fund and researchers at the ASEAN Research Group. In addition, support was also provided by various institutions, especially the Ford Foundation.
“Hopefully there will be greater support for social humanitarian research related to technology and economy in order to ensure that all human beings can enjoy prosperous and fulfilling lives,” she hoped. (zm/usa)
