Community service participants are expected to play an important role in pandemic countermeasure program
Rectorate, UIN News Online – The Head of Institute for research and community service (LP2M) UIN Jakarta Jajang Jahroni asked the student who participating in community service (KKN) program to be able to create their best ideas in accelerating the pandemic countermeasure program. He believes that participating students who are born as millennials can think sharp, critically, and creatively.
This was said by Jajang during virtual release ceremony for 4,612 students participating in 2021 community service program on Thursday (07/01/2021). The 4,612 participating students will carry out community service activity from July 1 to September 30, 2021.
Jajang said, this year's KKN activities were still carried out online like last year due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Jajang is optimistic that the KKN participants are able to carry out their community service duties well despite the pandemic situation. “This activity cannot be stopped because of the pandemic. We can do it virtually,” said Jajang.
Jajang also added thatthe Covid 19 pandemic does not only present risks to health. More than that, the pandemic also presents various other social risks. With these various risks, the pandemic demands solutions from many parties with various scientific backgrounds.
“With the risk of a pandemic like this, all of you who have a background in medicine, public health, tarbiyah, social sciences, and Islamic studies are invited to think about finding a formula to overcome this situation,” he said.
Since the Covid 19 pandemic hit, UIN Jakarta has implemented a policy of adjusting the implementation of community services. If it is usually done by going directly to the community in the target areas, since the last two years students have been asked to do community service in their respective regions.
A total of 4,612 students will carry out community service activities in 2021. In detail, 4,348 KKN participants carried out community service in their respective regions, 163 KKN participants carried out community service in the campus environment through the KKN in Campus program, and 101 participants participated in International KKN in collaboration with AISEC International.
