Student Center Field, UIN Online News – UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a ceremony to commemorate Pancasila Day, aiming to reflect once again on Pancasila's values and its role in national life, on Monday (02/06/2025). The ceremony took place at the Student Center Field and was attended by the rectorate leadership and all members of the UIN Jakarta academic community, including teaching staff and administrative personnel.

Serving as the Ceremony Inspector, UIN Jakarta Rector, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., along with Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. La ode Sumarlin, M. Si., Vice Dean for General Administration of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr.dr. Erike Anggraini Suwarsono, M. Pd., S.p.M.K., and Vice Dean for Student Affairs of the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Dr. Aktobi Ghozali, M. A., also served as ceremony officials.

In his address, the Rector invited all attendees to remember that this commemoration was held to re-understand that the birth of Pancasila marks a significant moment in the journey of the Indonesian nation. The UIN Jakarta Rector touched upon the asta cita (eight aspirations) that serve as the vision of Indonesian President, Prabowo Subianto. The Rector stated that strengthening the Pancasila ideology is the first point outlined in the asta cita.

“Besides practical sectors, such as security and defense, economy and development, and so on, strengthening the national ideology, namely Pancasila, is a main agenda that is a shared task,” said the Rector.

Furthermore, the Rector also invited the entire UIN Jakarta community to reinforce Pancasila values within UIN Jakarta, especially in classrooms, where students, as the nation's successors, learn to carry Pancasila in their every activity. Therefore, the Rector emphasized that education, especially higher education, must be present to strengthen Pancasila as the national ideology.

“UIN Jakarta must be at the forefront in implementing Pancasila values in Education, particularly in the Tri Dharma of higher education,” the Rector stressed.

Throughout its long journey, UIN Jakarta has grown significantly. As a State Islamic Religious Higher Education Institution (PTKIN) with the most study programs, and various research in many fields that integrate knowledge, diversity, Islam, and humanity, this represents the values and spirit of Pancasila inherited from UIN Jakarta's leaders through the ages.

The Rector also expressed his pride, noting that Pancasila and UIN Jakarta have their own history. UIN Jakarta's predecessors such as Prof. Mahmud Yunus, Prof. Soenarjo, Prof. Harun Nasution, Prof. Quraish Shihab, Prof. Azyumardi Azra, and Prof. Komaruddin Hidayat, all played important roles in safeguarding Pancasila and strengthening it as the foundation of the state.

Prof. Harun Nasution, in his work Islam Rasional, asserted that Pancasila is the essence of noble Islamic teachings. According to him, the Indonesian State and government based on Pancasila align with Islamic values. He also highlighted the role of leaders and professors in interpreting Pancasila with a humanistic approach that touches upon Islamic values and teachings.

The Rector added that Prof. Azyumardi Azra, as the Rector who led the transformation of IAIN into UIN Jakarta at that time, stated that Pancasila is an ideology capable of accommodating many interests, while simultaneously being comprehensive and inclusive. Prof. Azra said that Pancasila plays a role in accommodating the diversity of religious cultures possessed by the Indonesian nation.

“Prof. Azyumardi Azra said, Pancasila is the foundation that makes Indonesia a religion-friendly nation,” quoted the Rector.

Before the ceremony concluded, the Vice Dean for Student Affairs of the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Dr. Aktobi Ghozali, M. A., led a prayer with the entire academic community, expressing hopes and aspirations. In this moment of Pancasila Day, the Indonesian nation will always live in harmony amidst diversity, steadfast in maintaining civility in humanity, and this nation will be able to act justly without discrimination, with Pancasila always present in daily life.

Pancasila's values have greatly accompanied UIN Jakarta throughout its journey, from era to era. The spirit of Pancasila, inherited from one leader to the next, will always be preserved within the framework of diversity in unity at UIN Jakarta. As a leading higher education institution in integrating knowledge and Islam, UIN Jakarta also places humanitarian values as the soul in every step it takes.

This integration is not only a hallmark of UIN Jakarta but also a concrete manifestation of its contribution to building a just and prosperous nation. By continuously instilling the spirit of Pancasila in the processes of education, research, and community service, UIN Jakarta is committed to producing a generation that is not only intellectually and spiritually intelligent but also civilized for a sovereign and dignified Indonesia.
