Commemorating National Awakening Day, PSGA and KPAI Hold Emotional Intelligence Seminar

Diorama Room, UIN Online News - The Center for Gender and Child Studies (PSGA) of UIN Jakarta, in collaboration with the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), held a seminar on 'Resonance of Freedom: Awakening and Emotional Intelligence for the Nation's Successors.' This seminar, held in the diorama room, was attended by the academic community of UIN Jakarta on Tuesday (21/05/2024).

“With this seminar, we hope to broaden the students' knowledge because this topic will always be relevant to students and young people,” said the Head of PSGA, Dr. Wiwi Siti Sajaroh, M.Ag., in her opening remarks. Dr. Wiwi warmly welcomed the cooperation between PSGA and KPAI, which will be formalized with the signing of an MoU after the seminar's opening. The last MoU was signed in 2018.

The Rector’s speech, represented by the Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) UIN Jakarta, Prof. Amelia, Ph.D., appreciated the initiative taken by PSGA and KPAI in commemorating National Awakening Day.

“Commemorating National Awakening Day by understanding the importance of emotional intelligence for the nation,” she said.

The first speaker, KPAI Chairperson Ai Maryati Solihah, M.Si., presented 'Children as National Assets: Preparing a Quality and Emotionally Ready Generation,' emphasizing that children's interests must always be a part of national development considerations, and their uniqueness must be facilitated by the state to help them grow.

KPAI Commissioner Dr. Aris Adi Leksono, M.Pd., presented the second topic, 'Building Harmony: Understanding the Role of Family and Educational Institutions in Maintaining Children's Mental Health.' Dr. Aris highlighted the significant role of universities in child protection, including reporting, handling, and addressing violence. “Educational institutions must not ignore reports of sexual violence,” he concluded.

Narila Mutia Nasir, S.K.M., M.K.M., Ph.D., from the Sexual Violence Crime Response Unit Rumah Ramah Rahma (Satgas Ertri) of the Faculty of Health Sciences (Fikes) UIN Jakarta, delivered the final presentation, 'Social Innovation: Collaborative Strategies for Building a Strong and Emotionally Healthy Society.' Narila emphasized that being healthy is not just the absence of disease but a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. “A positive and supportive social environment will produce emotionally healthy generations,” she stated.

The seminar concluded with a Q&A session between the students and the three speakers, followed by a group photo session and the presentation of souvenirs by PSGA UIN Jakarta to KPAI.
