Commemorating International Hijab Solidarity Day 2024, LDK Syahid UIN Jakarta Holds Talkshow Grow Up Muslimah Potential
Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN News Online - Keputrian Lembaga Dakwah Kampus (LDK) Syahid UIN Jakarta held a Talkshow in the framework of International Hijab Solidarity Day (IHSD) 2024 with the theme “Grow up Together, Glow up Forever” on Friday (27/9/2024) at Harun Nasution Auditorium.
This event was only attended by akhwat, with the hope of getting to know the meaning of hijab better and strengthening solidarity among fellow Muslim women. Through this activity, participants are expected to support each other and share experiences in their spiritual journey and identity as hijab-wearing women.
Two inspirational speakers were presented in this talk show, they are Founder of Shape Your Life, Fathia Fairuza and a Mompreneur and Film Actress, Meyda Sefira. Both shared their stories and life experiences in maintaining Islamic principles, and inspired participants to live life with meaning and passion.
The talkshow was actively followed by a question and answer session guided by the moderator. Fathia said that a Muslim needs to maintain balance in their life. In line with that, Meyda added that the balance of life is not when doing everything simultaneously, we must have time to learn and be realistic. “Communication, intention, strong way, and priority scale are the keys,” Meyda added.
Based on the experience of the two speakers who have lived in Muslim minority countries, Fairuza and Meyda explained that there are many challenges faced by a Muslim woman who wears hijab, especially how to travel in a Muslim minority country. For this reason, Meyda emphasized that one should not feel different, and expose good faith and values as long as they are not contradictory.
“Increase the spirit that you have, don't be eroded by the culture there by staying in touch with fellow Muslims there,” Meyda emphasized. In addition, Fathia invited Muslimah friends who are experiencing similar challenges not to give up, “hijab is our right, we must defend and voice our rights,” added Fathia.
Then, it was also discussed about the work of a Muslimah in the international arena and the potential to work in the global sphere. According to Fathia, currently there are many Muslims who can work on international stages such as the International Muslim Fashion Week and hijab-wearing models who show their talents. “What we hope for now is that many of our Muslim friends will work on an international scale to show that Muslims are educated,” she added.
In line with Fathia, Meyda added that to work in the international arena requires strong preparation and effort, because what is difficult is not the result but the preparation. “It's not that Allah doesn't give us roles, it's that we haven't prepared our capacity,” Meyda concluded.
