Commemorating Earth Day 2022, Ranita UIN Jakarta Holds Environmental Discussion

Rectorate, UIN News Online – Commemorating Earth Day 2022, KMPLHK Ranita UIN Jakarta held a discussion entitled “Peran Mahasiswa dalam Gerakan Lingkungan dan Kebencanaan” in the Madya Hall, Friday (04/22/2022). The discussion, which was attended by Ranita activists and the general public, invite two speakers, namely Fathan Mubina (Climate Rangers) and Achmad Lukman (Disaster Management Center Dompet Dhuafa). Fathan Mubina in his presentation said that Earth Day is an annual agenda that is always commemorated by environmental activists in various parts of the world. The goal is to increase the awareness of the world's citizens towards the increasingly alarming environment. Therefore, according to Fathan, students as agents of change need to continue to be actively involved in various discussion forums regarding the environment. In the forum, students are expected to be able to convey their ideas on climate change that are relevant to the environment and society. The same thing was also expressed by Achmad Lukman. He said that in the aspect of disaster preparedness, students need to actively participate at the university level, for example through small, impactful movements. It is hoped that these small movements will have an impact and benefit the community. Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Ranita, Abdul Jabar, said that the discussion is expected to become an active forum for collaborative activities or synergies between environmental and disaster activists. “This action is to optimize the movement so as to bring benefits to the general public,” he said.
