Collaborative Horizons: UIN Jakarta and PNU Explore Partnership Prospects

Riyadh, UIN News Online-- A delegation from the State Islamic University Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta (UIN Jakarta) recently embarked on a pivotal visit to Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University (PNU) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Led by UIN Jakarta's Rector, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, Ph.D., the delegation included key figures such as Prof. Dr. Imam Subchi, Vice Rector of General Administration; Prof. Ali Munhanif Ph.D., Vice Rector of Student Affairs; and Prof. Maila Dinia Husni Rahiem, Ph.D., Head of Center for International Collaboration.

Their visit was met with a warm reception by the President of PNU, H.E. Prof. Einas AlEisa, along with other prominent figures from the university including Dr. Farah Alaskar, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Latefa Alfryan, Secretary of the University Council (Advisor & General Supervisor of the President Office); Dr. Fatmah Alqubaisi, Dean of the College of Social and Human Sciences; Dr. Badriah Alenizi, Dean of Arabic Language Teaching Institute for Non-Arabic Speakers; and Dr. Abrar AlMuhanna, Director of the Strategic Partnerships Department.

Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, a leading institution in women's education and scientific research, stands out as a comprehensive university exclusively for women. PNU is located in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The university was established in 2006, by royal decree under the Ministry of Higher Education and started operations in 2007. UIN Jakarta impressed with the achievement of PNU, which is now ranked 661-670 in QS World University Ranking. PNU excels in QS by subject in the field of technology and engineering (number 401-451) and is thriving in QS Sustainability.

During the discussions, both universities agreed to explore joint research and teaching endeavors. UIN Jakarta, boasting 60 journals and several publications indexed in Scopus, offered PNU scholars the opportunity to contribute to their academic journals, including Studia Islamika—Journal of Islamic Studies, Al Ahkam—Journal of Islamic Law, JP3I—Journal of Educational and Psychological Measurement, and Valensi—Journal in Chemistry, facilitating knowledge exchange.

Prof. Asep emphasized the importance of collaborative research and teaching, proposing joint workshops and faculty exchanges between the institutions. President Einas welcomed these proposals, pledging support for the partnership.

As plans for future collaboration to take shape, Prof. Maila and Dr. Abrar have been designated as the key contacts to facilitate ongoing communication and coordinate virtual meetings between faculty members of both universities, ensuring a fruitful collaboration ahead.
