Collaboration Between PPM UIN Jakarta and South Tangerang Government: KKN Students Set to Contribute

South Tangerang, UIN News Online - Center for Community Service (PPM) UIN Jakarta, in partnership with the South Tangerang City Government, held an event to welcome UIN Jakarta students for the community service program (KKN) with the theme "Enhancing Environmental Quality and the Capabilities of the Poor in South Tangerang City" on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

South Tangerang Mayor Drs. Benyamin Davnie delivered remarks and officially opened the event. In his address, Drs. Benyamin highlighted that KKN is a crucial part of the university's three pillars, emphasizing that the program helps students develop leadership skills and address societal issues.

The chosen theme reflects the various challenges faced by South Tangerang, with poverty being a significant concern. Efforts are being made to address these issues in ways that are appropriate for the community, with the students playing a vital role in these efforts.

The event, held at South Tangerang City Hall, was attended by the Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M), Prof. Amelia Fauzia, Ph.D., as well as several local leaders, including seven sub-district heads from areas selected for the KKN program. Several UIN Jakarta faculty members and representatives of ten students from each KKN group in South Tangerang were also present.

UIN Jakarta's Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Ali Munhanif, M.A., Ph.D., speaking on behalf of the rector, expressed his hope that the students involved would be well-prepared for the professional world. He also emphasized the importance of commitment to community service and improvement, which are core elements of the KKN program.

Ade Rina Farida, M.Si., Head of PPM UIN Jakarta, noted that UIN Jakarta previously conducted a KKN program in South Tangerang in 2016. The program was reintroduced at the request of the South Tangerang Government, which wanted to see UIN Jakarta students contribute to the areas surrounding the campus. This initiative also aligns with the Ministry of Religious Affairs' policy to conduct KKN in campus-adjacent areas.

"We hope the students can make a significant impact, with their efforts being felt in the surrounding areas," said Ade Rina in an interview at the South Tangerang City Hall.

The event also included a symbolic presentation of KKN uniforms and equipment by the South Tangerang Mayor to seven UIN Jakarta students, each representing a sub-district. The event concluded with a group photo session. (Nala Zakina Zuhaida/Fauziah M./Raihan Lail Ramadhan/Photo: Indra Aldiyansyah)
