Central Library of UIN Jakarta Starts Using Turnitin Anti-Plagiarism Software

Central Library, UIN News Online – This year, Central library of UIN Jakarta starts using Turnitin plagiarism software which previously been socialized on Thursday, October 12, 2017.

“Turnitin is used to prevent the student academic works plagiarism activity. Lecturers can use this software after they do the registration process in the faculty libraries," said the Head of Central Library Amrullah Hasbana MA through his short messages, Monday, (2/5/2018).

He also added that this software will facilitate the lecturers work in guiding their students. “Students can also use this software to check the similarity text,” he added.

Percentage of plagiarism, he added, is the policy of each university, generally 20% to 30%. Turnitin will calculate the percentage automatically with the existing scientific work on the internet.

"For this year, there are 100 accounts that can be utilized by all UIN Jakarta academic community," he explained.

To be more effective, the Central Library will distribute the accounts to all faculty Departments, faculty libraries, and Graduate School (SPs) UIN Jakarta. Currently, the faculty library also has self-service plagiarism checks for students.

“If the lecturers would like to be assisted for article similarity check process, please send the article to the library website of each faculty,” he concluded.  (usa)
