Celebrating Indonesia's 81st Anniversary, UIN Jakarta Hosts Various Competitions and Community-Building Activities
Student Center Field, UIN News Online – UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a vibrant Independence Day celebration to commemorate the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. Carrying the theme “A Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia”, the festive event took place at the Student Center Field of UIN Jakarta on Tuesday (18/8/2026).
This event was part of the Synergy, Performance, Entertainment, Creativity, Togetherness, Recreation, and Achievement (SPECTRA) 2026 program series in celebration of the 69th Anniversary of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The festivities were enthusiastically attended by faculty members, UIN Jakarta Ambassadors, international students, and the entire campus academic community.
Running from 07:00 AM to 05:00 PM WIB, the Independence Festivities featured a wide range of engaging activities, including group calisthenics (senam bersama), cracker-eating competitions, nail-in-the-bottle games, balloon dance contests, water balloon relay races, tug-of-war, a futsal tournament, and free health check-up services for the academic community.
One of the 2026 UIN Jakarta Ambassadors, Ghozi Abdul Aziz, expressed his appreciation for the participants' high level of enthusiasm. He highlighted the event as an effective platform to strengthen fellowship among all elements across UIN Jakarta.
“The spirit of independence is truly palpable today. The enthusiasm shown by everyone—from lecturers to international students—demonstrates just how strong the sense of solidarity is at UIN Jakarta. Hopefully, this positive energy continues to thrive in support of an increasingly sovereign, just, and prosperous Indonesia,” Ghozi remarked on the sidelines of the event.
The Independence Festivities served as one of the key highlights of UIN Jakarta's 69th Anniversary celebrations. Leading up to the main event on August 18, the SPECTRA 2026 series had been underway since mid-July, presenting various competitions such as the Anniversary Mascot Design Contest, International Students Cooking Class, Voice Hunt, Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur'an (MTQ), table tennis, the UIN Ambassador Selection, a futsal tournament, and a tumpeng decorating contest.
The excitement of the celebration was further elevated with the presentation of prizes to the competition winners. A wide variety of rewards was distributed, ranging from portable stoves and gym vouchers to food and beverage hampers, alongside other attractive prizes. Beyond serving as a gesture of appreciation, the awards further boosted the enthusiasm and spirit of the academic community in celebrating the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia at UIN Jakarta.
