Career Center B-CoSt Program, prepares students-alumni to study abroad

Rectorate, UIN News Online – The interest of students and alumni to study abroad is increasing. Likewise, opportunities are getting wider. However, the availability of acceptance quotas is always not proportional due to the high demand.

Therefore, the UIN Jakarta Career Center in collaboration with the Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education (Nuffic Neso), a non-profit organization representing the Dutch education sector in Indonesia, held a bootcamp for final year students and alumni to prepare them for study abroad. The program is called Bootcamp for Continuing Study (B-CoSt).

“B-CoSt is a structured program that provides knowledge and skills to prepare participants to compete for scholarship opportunities abroad,” said the chairwoman of Career Center UIN Jakarta Salamah Agung to UIN News Online, Wednesday (09/29/2021).

According to Salamah, there are three major schemes prepared in the B-Cost activity, namely serial webinars, coaching Clinique, and talent placement. The webinar series is an effort to develop knowledge related to topics around the application of study abroad. These topics such as how to find the right field of study and university, find a supervisor, choose the right English certificate, and understand how to fill out scholarship formulas which are often confusing.

Coaching session are more of an intensive approach and hands-on activity, for example to create a curriculum vitae (CV), motivation letter, research proposal, and creating an impressive video resume. Meanwhile, talent placement is to provide information on opportunities to obtain scholarships from overseas scholarship institutions in Indonesia.

The talent placement activity, said the lecturer at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, is the final session of the B-CoSt program. In the session, participants will be confronted directly with dozens of scholarship-giving institutions, both from the Indonesian government, foreign governments, non-profit organizations, as well as from universities abroad.

Although B-CoSt is open to the public, she added, the program also provides special opportunities for participants from various religious universities under the auspices of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs.

“To participate in these activities, academic and language skills are mandatory requirements. For example, a minimum GPA of 3.25 and a minimum TOEFL score of 500 or equivalent,” said Salamah.

For students and alumni who are interested, registration for B-CoSt is open from September 27 to October 10, 2021. For further information, please contact the UIN Jakarta Career Center at https://karir.uinjkt.ac.id/. (usa/ns)
