Carbon reduction and emission reduction process Realizing Green Villages Through Solar Panel Installation: STF UIN Jakarta Partners with Tokio Marine- Cidokom West Java
The Green Village Program is a community empowerment and environmental sustainability initiative led by the Social Trust Fund (STF) of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta in collaboration with PT Tokio Marine Life Insurance (TMLI) and Green Campus Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University. Implemented in Cidokom Village, Gunung Sindur District, Bogor Regency, West Java, the program aims to promote renewable energy, expand green spaces, reduce carbon emissions, increase environmental awareness, and encourage responsible waste management among rural communities. One of its key activities was the installation of a reported 3.5 kWh solar panel system at Cercondeso (Center for Rural Community Development and Social Entrepreneurship), officially inaugurated on August 25, 2025. The program also included tree-planting activities involving children from Cidokom Village through the Green Rangers initiative and the Scholarships from Plastic Waste program, which encourages responsible plastic waste management while supporting educational objectives.
Through collaboration among STF Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University, TMLI, Green Campus Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University, Cercondeso, and the Cidokom Village government, the Green Village Program supports sustainable rural development by integrating environmental conservation with community empowerment. The solar panel installation is estimated to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 4,180 kg annually, while Cercondeso became the first public building in the village to use solar panels. The program also provides environmental education for children, increases awareness of waste management, and strengthens multi-stakeholder partnerships. To ensure its long-term sustainability, continued attention is needed for solar panel maintenance, monitoring of electricity generation and carbon emission reductions, tree growth and survival, community participation in plastic waste management, environmental education, recycling practices, periodic evaluation, and transparent reporting.
As part of its efforts to promote the Green Village Program, the Social Trust Fund (STF) of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta has partnered with PT Tokio Marine Life Insurance to bring this initiative to life. This collaboration aims to develop sustainable, environmentally friendly initiatives in Cidokom Village, Gunung Sindur District, Bogor Regency, West Java.
In her remarks at the solar panel inauguration ceremony, Prof. Amelia Fauzia, MA, Ph.D., Director of STF Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta, stated that the solar panel system has a capacity of 3.5 kWh. The solar panels were installed on the roof of the Cercondeso Hall (Center for Rural Community Development and Social Entrepreneurship), a center for rural community empowerment and social entrepreneurship, on Monday, August 25, 2025.
The installation is expected to deliver significant environmental benefits. She noted that the solar panel system could reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 4,180 kg per year, equivalent to the environmental benefits

STF Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University, in collaboration with TMLI, also inaugurated the installation of a 3.5 kWh solar panel system at Cercondeso Hall. The solar panel system is estimated to reduce emissions by up to 4,180 kg of CO2 per year, equivalent to the environmental benefits of planting 206 trees. It also makes Cercondeso the first public building in Cidokom Village to utilize solar energy. Support also came from UIN Jakarta’s Green Campus initiative through a tree planting activity involving children from Cidokom Village, known as the Green Rangers, and the “Scholarships from Plastic Waste” program initiated by Mr. Johan Aristya Lesmana, M.Si.Han. This commitment was further strengthened by the donation of two baobab trees from the former Head of Cidokom Village, Mr. H. Ahmad, symbolizing sustainability of planting 206 trees, and help offset CO2 emissions associated with car use.
