Bridging Continents: UIN Jakarta and the Mexican Embassy Pursue Global Education Collaboration

Rectorate Building, UIN Online News — Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta welcomed a visit from the Ambassador of Mexico to Indonesia, H.E. Francisco de la Torre, to explore bilateral collaborations in education. The meeting took place at the Rector’s Office on Thursday (6/11/2025) and was received by the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D.; the Vice Rector for Cooperation, Dr. Din Wahid, M.A., Ph.D.; and other university officials.

Francisco de la Torre expressed that the visit marks an important step in fostering stronger educational ties between Mexico and UIN Jakarta, particularly in the areas of student exchange, academic mobility, joint research, and other international programs.

“I think that my visit here is planting a very important seed that we will all water so the universities in Mexico and this wonderful university can work together, student mobility to begin with, and maybe other programs in the future,” he shared.

He also conveyed his appreciation for the warm reception he received from UIN Jakarta.

"I am very grateful with the rector for receiving me. I am a proud product of the public education of my country, and I understand the value of your university,” he expressed.

Responding to the visit, Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar explained UIN Jakarta’s commitment to strengthening academic partnerships with leading universities in Mexico.

“We are working to enhance our cooperation with Mexico, especially with its major universities, to elevate our international reputation through lecturer and student exchanges, collaborative research, and other academic initiatives,” he affirmed.

The Rector further added that following this visit, UIN Jakarta plans to draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and an action plan with several Mexican universities.

“We are preparing an MoU and a detailed action plan with universities in Mexico as part of our internationalization efforts. Our goal is to expand UIN Jakarta’s global academic network by enhancing the university’s international credibility and academic excellence,” he assured.
