Bilis Electric Bus Becomes a Favorite Transport Choice for UIN Jakarta Students
Campus I, UIN News Online - After nearly a week of operation, UIN Jakarta's Bilis (Electric Bus) has become a favorite mode of transport for students and lecturers alike. Introduced alongside the transfer of parking areas for petroleum-based vehicles from faculty and rectorate zones to the Main Field parking area, Bilis has been welcomed enthusiastically by the campus community.
Alfina, a fifth-semester student from the Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH), shared her excitement about Bilis. She was so eager to try the electric bus that she traveled all the way from Campus III to Campus I. “I came from Campus III just to experience Bilis because it looked so exciting,” she said with enthusiasm.
For students on Campus I, Bilis has proven to be both convenient and efficient. Caroline, a fifth-semester student from the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), praised its usefulness, especially in challenging weather. “Bilis is really helpful, especially when it rains. I don’t have to walk all the way in the rain anymore from the entrance to the rear of campus,” she explained.
The benefits of Bilis are also appreciated by faculty members. Prof. Hendrawati, M.Si., a Professor from FST, shared her experience using the electric bus to reach her classes efficiently. She encouraged students and staff to embrace Bilis as a practical solution that aligns with UIN Jakarta’s Green Campus initiative.
“Students and lecturers don’t need to worry about the distance between the parking lot and their faculties. Bilis is a practical, environmentally friendly solution that makes campus mobility easier while supporting the green transportation concept we are promoting,” she emphasized.
In addition to its practicality, Bilis has also sparked creativity and enjoyment among students. According to UIN News Online's observations on Thursday (12/12/2024), many students used Bilis not just for transportation but also as an opportunity for entertainment and social media content creation. Students from various faculties – including Psychology, Health Sciences, Adab and Humanities, and even PPG Bojongsari Depok – eagerly took turns riding the electric bus.
One student expressed their excitement, saying, “Alhamdulillah, I rode Bilis three times! It feels like a mini-picnic after the exhausting final exams,” they laughed.
With its growing popularity, Bilis has proven to be more than just a mode of transportation. It is fostering a sense of community while promoting sustainable practices on campus, making it a valuable addition to UIN Jakarta’s efforts to build an environmentally conscious campus environment.
