Behind the Educational Journey: Hundred of Hopes Expressed by the Parents during UIN Jakarta's 137th Graduation Ceremony

Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Online News — The struggle to earn a bachelor’s or master’s degree at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta’s 137th Commencement was not only felt by the graduates but also by the parents who accompanied them throughout the journey. This moment was captured by UIN Online News on Sunday (August 24, 2025).

For many parents, graduation is more than an academic ceremony—it is a symbol of fulfilled prayers, hard work, and long-standing sacrifices made to support their children’s education. Several parents interviewed by UIN News Online expressed their pride and deep emotion as they watched their sons and daughters successfully complete their studies amid an increasingly competitive era.

One of them is Imran Rosyadi, a security staff member at UIN Jakarta since 2007. With great sincerity, he willingly set aside part of his salary to pay for the Single Tuition Fee (UKT) of his children studying at UIN Jakarta. At this graduation moment, he expressed joy and gratitude as his sacrifices were rewarded with the graduation of his son, Nabil Abdurrahman Rosyadi, a graduate of the Information Systems Program, Faculty of Science and Technology.

“God bless, all the struggles have finally paid off. From the wages I set aside for education, my son has now earned his bachelor’s degree,” he expressed.

He further expressed his hopes that his son’s knowledge will bring broad benefits:

“As a parent, I can only pray that the knowledge he has gained will be useful and that he will become a person of benefit to society, the nation, and the faith,” he added.

This graduation moment also serves as a reflection that a child’s success cannot be separated from the prayers and blessings of their parents. Moral and financial support, along with unrelenting encouragement, become the main pillars enabling graduates to proudly wear their caps and gowns today.

Beyond that, parents entrusted their hopes that all graduates of UIN Jakarta will continue to use their knowledge as provisions to benefit the ummah and the nation. They are also expected to uphold good character, integrity, and Islamic values—truly embodying the qualities of UIN Jakarta alumni who are both knowledgeable and noble in character.
