Azyumardi Azra: Do not Accumulate Terrorist Prisoners in One Prison

UIN Jakarta, UIN NEWS Online   - Terrorist action in Mako Brimob is a barbaric act that has no place in Indonesia. The government and all citizens should never lose to the terrorists.

The above thoughts are quoted by Prof. Dr. Azyumardi Azra CBE on twitter account @Prof_Azyumardi related to riot in Rutan Mako Brimob, Kelapa Dua, Depok,   Wednesday (05/09/2018).

"Terrorist action in Mako Brimob provides a valuable lesson; do not accumulate a lot of terrorism prisoners in a prison ever again. They have to be separated in some maximum security prison," he said.

For Azra, there is no justification for terrorism. Terrorist acts-like those in Mako Brimob-never helped Islam and Muslims. The acts of terror only contaminate Islam and Muslims as a whole.

"Therefore, each and every Muslim must return to the essence of Islam as a religion of peace and rahmatan lil 'alamin. The Muslims have to abandon the transnational orientation, in contrast to the Islamic and Indonesian Values, "said the Professor  of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. (usa-rs)
