Appreciation for Alumni: IKALUIN Invites UIN Jakarta's Extended Family to Choose Outstanding Alumni

The Rectorate Building, UIN Online News - The Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta University Alumni Association (IKALUIN) has once again scheduled the presentation of awards for alumni who are deemed to have made significant contributions through ideas, achievements, in academic, social, and humanitarian movements in various fields through the 2024 IKALUIN Award. The extended family of Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta University is invited to nominate alumni who are considered eligible to receive appreciation from this alumni association.

The General Chairman of IKALUIN Jakarta, Dr. Tb. Ace Hasan Syadzily, in his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (07/4/2024), expressed that IKALUIN Jakarta is once again awarding alumni who have made important contributions in various fields. "Through this tradition of appreciation, it is hoped that the public impact of UIN alumni's roles will be strengthened, and will stimulate the roles and contributions of other alumni in various fields," he said.

The 2024 IKALUIN Award, themed "Alumni Contribution for the Nation," quoting the committee's statement, includes several categories for recipients of the 2024 IKALUIN Award. Among them are Gender Equality and Child Protection, Law and Human Rights, Politics and Governance, Education and Religious Thought, Community Empowerment, Environment and Climate Change, Arts and Culture, Young Hero (Influential Youth), and other relevant criteria.

The criteria for alumni who can be nominated to receive the 2024 IKALUIN Award include being a graduate of ADIA-IAIN-UIN, from undergraduate (S1), master's (S2), or doctoral (S3) levels, either individually or institutionally. Furthermore, they must have been active in their field of expertise for a minimum of 15 years; the level of activity can be at the grassroots, regional, provincial, national, or international level; proven to have developed ideas and activities that have had a significant, unique, innovative, and impactful value for society.

Moreover, the proposed alumni must have demonstrated integrity, accountability, tolerance, and diversity; can be nominated by anyone, whether individuals or institutions; IAIN-UIN-ADIA alumni can nominate themselves; and each nominator can propose only one candidate in each category. Furthermore, Chairman Ace Hasan expressed that UIN Jakarta, as a state Islamic higher education institution born almost half a century ago initially named ADIA (Academy of Religious Sciences), then IAIN (State Islamic Institute), and finally transformed into UIN (State Islamic University), has produced many alumni who have been active in various professions and fields, both nationally and internationally. "Through the IKALUIN Award 2024, which will be held at the end of May, it is hoped that the influence and contribution of UIN Jakarta's alumni will have a more impactful role in building civility and civilization in Indonesia," he added.

Another goal of the 2024 IKALUIN Award, he continued, is to strengthen the bonds among alumni from ADIA, IAIN, to now UIN, which have so far produced many graduates who have actively contributed to community, national, and state life. The fields of life explored by UIN Jakarta alumni have apparently surpassed their departments, study programs, and faculties.

The influence of UIN alumni in various fields significantly colors the way Indonesian society thinks. Moreover, UIN alumni tend to impart a distinctive style, something that has been termed "Ciputat School of Thought."

Furthermore, as Chairman of Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, he stated that through the organization of the 2024 IKALUIN Award, it is hoped to motivate and encourage the public impact of UIN Jakarta alumni to expand further. The presentation of the 2024 IKALUIN Award itself is planned to coincide with the inauguration of the Alumni Center Building and is scheduled for Sunday, May 26, 2024, at the Prof. Harun Nasution Auditorium.
