Al-Azhar University Praises the Role of Its Graduates in Indonesia

Rectorate, UIN News Online – Al-Azhar University Cairo, Egypt, praised the role of its graduates in developing education in Indonesia. One of them is Amany Lubis, Rector of UIN Jakarta, the largest and well-known Islamic university in Indonesia.

This was said by the Rector of AL-Azhar University Cairo Dr Muhammad Al-Mahrasawi, when receiving a visit from the UIN Jakarta delegation to the oldest Islamic university in Egypt, as reported by Amany Lubis, directly from Cairo on Tuesday (04/12/2022).

Muhammad Al-Mahrasawi said that he felt proud and expressed his deep appreciation for the role of Al-Azhar graduates in Indonesia in bringing a scientific revival in Indonesian universities. He said that one of the graduates who succeeded in developing education in Indonesia was Amany Lubis, who currently serves as the Rector of UIN Jakarta.

It is known that Amany Lubis studied at the Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt (1982-1988). Previously, she also attended junior high school (1976-1979) and high school (1979-1982) at the same Islamic college.

According to Al-Mahrasawi, the long age of the relationship between Egypt and Indonesia has proceeded in harmony.  Even Al-Azhar University has long been known in Indonesia. Therefore, it is not surprising that many Indonesian citizens continue their education at Al-Azhar.

“Egypt's cultural and scientific relations with Indonesia have been rooted in history since the establishment of the Serambi Jawa at the Al-Azhar Mosque,” he said.

In response, Rector Amany said that she was proud to be part of the big Al-Azhar family.

“Al-Azhar and its university have a special place in the hearts of Indonesians. Schools and universities compete to teach a curriculum that adopts moderate thinking,” she said.

For information, apart from visiting Egypt, the delegation led by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis also visited Muscat, the capital city of the Sultanate of Oman. The delegation consisted of Rector Amany Lubis, Vice Rector for General Administration Ahmad Rodoni, Vice Rector for Student Affairs Arief Subhan, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology Zahrotun Nihayah, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology Nashrul Hakiem.

The visit of the UIN Jakarta delegation was carried out to establish cooperation in the field of scientific development with several universities in Oman and Egypt. (ns/usa)
