AICIS 2022 is Expected to Provide Solutions to Various Social Problems in the Country
Bali, UIN News Online – The 21st Annual International Conference on Islamic Studies (AICIS) in 2022 themed "Future Religion In G20: Digital Transformation, Knowledge Management, And Social Resilience" is expected to provide solutions to various social problems in the country. At this conference, a number of UIN Jakarta academics were invited as speakers and presenters.
In the opening of the second session of the 21st AICIS in Bali, Tuesday (11/01/2022), the Director General of Islamic Education, Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs Muhammad Ali Ramdhani revealed that AICIS is an important event for academics from various scientific disciplines to find solutions to various social problems.
He also revealed that today's social life is faced with a number of dynamics, including volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity.
Based on these conditions, he continued, religion must be present through the return of its values to build peaceful social relations. This conception of the return of religious values is called Future Religion.
“With the return of these values, it is hoped that harmonious life between religious communities will be realized. Religion is present by teaching hospitality, inviting kindness and fostering humanity,” he said.
The same hope was also conveyed by the Governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster, who was present and delivered his remarks at the forum. “This event is a forum for academics. We should have a new world order after the Covid-19 pandemic,” he hoped.
Referring to the perspective of local Balinese wisdom, the pandemic condition is part of a great cycle towards a new era with major changes. Such a new order, he said, in the case of the Balinese people, could be realized by rebuilding the socio-economic life of the Balinese after the pandemic. “Pandemic has caused a weakening of the economy which has an impact on the decline in the welfare level of the local community,” he said.
Based on UIN News Online Observation, this forum was also attended by a number of academics from UIN Jakarta. In addition to presenting papers in regular panel forums, a number of academics were also present as invited speakers.
Among them, Professor of Political Science and Dean of FISIP UIN Jakarta Ali Munhanif and Professor Iik Arifin Mansurnoor. Both of them were present as speakers with Indonesianist Professor James B.
