Ahead of 141st Graduation, UIN Jakarta Equips Prospective Graduates with Career and Scholarship Opportunities
Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN News Online – To prepare competent, adaptive graduates who are ready to face global career challenges, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta organized a Briefing Session for 141st Graduation Participants. The event, titled “Motivation Session on Higher Education and Career Challenges, Dissemination of Master's and Doctoral Postgraduate Scholarship Programs, and Presentation of Central BAZNAS Scholarships,” was attended by prospective graduates from various faculties at the Harun Nasution Auditorium, Thursday (03/09/2026).
The event featured prominent keynote speakers, including Member of BAZNAS RI for Zakat, Infak, and Sedekah Collection and Mobilization as well as Secretary-General of the UIN Alumni Association (IKALUIN) Jakarta, Dr. H. Rizaluddin Kurniawan, S.Ag., M.Si., CFRM.; Senior Professor & Special Staff to the Rector for Graduate Studies Development, Prof. M. Zuhdi, M.Ed., Ph.D.; Deputy Director of the Graduate School, Prof. Dr. Yusuf Rahman, M.A.; and Representative of the STF UIN Jakarta Waqf Division, H. Willy Oktaviano, Lc., M.A.
Also present were Head of Academic Affairs and Acting Head of AAKK Bureau, Rahmawati, S.Psi., M.M.; Head of the Center for Information and Public Relations, Zaenal Muttaqin, S.Th.I., M.Ag.; and Head of the Admissions Center, Rachmat Baihaqi, M.A., Ph.D.
During the motivation session, Special Staff to the Rector for Graduate Studies Development, Prof. M. Zuhdi, Ph.D., shared his academic journey from an Islamic boarding school student (santri) and alumnus of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at UIN Jakarta to earning a Master's degree at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, and a Doctorate (Ph.D.) at McGill University, Canada. He underscored the importance of firm resolve and relentless effort.
“If our intentions are firm and our efforts are maximized, the universe and Allah will support us and open doors from unexpected directions,” he expressed.
Furthermore, he outlined three core moral responsibilities carried by UIN Jakarta alumni: actively participating in Tracer Study as a form of alma mater evaluation, cultivating a culture of philanthropy, and consistently upholding the reputation of the alma mater wherever their careers lead.
Next, Member of BAZNAS RI, Dr. H. Rizaluddin Kurniawan, S.Ag., M.Si., CFRM, presented the immense national zakat potential reaching Rp343.1 trillion annually, part of which is managed through strategic scholarship programs. BAZNAS provides the BAZNAS Scholar Scholarship (BCB) for undergraduate through doctoral levels complete with research grants and leadership development, the Santri Scholarship with a quota of 2,500 recipients, and Overseas Vocational Scholarships to countries such as Japan with an estimated starting income of Rp25 million to Rp27 million per month.
Echoing these sentiments, Acting Head of AAKK Bureau UIN Jakarta, Rahmawati, S.Psi., M.M., emphasized that a bachelor's degree alone often falls short of meeting workplace demands that require advanced competencies. She urged graduates not to remain passive and to actively pursue higher education opportunities, as UIN Jakarta provides extensive access to scholarships such as Ministry of Religious Affairs BIB, LPDP, and BAZNAS.
Meanwhile, Head of the Center for Information and Public Relations UIN Jakarta, Zaenal Muttaqin, S.Th.I., M.Ag., highlighted UIN Jakarta's strong strategic partnership with BAZNAS. Among the 55 State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) in Indonesia, UIN Jakarta is one of the three primary campuses entrusted with managing the highest allocation of Master's and Doctoral scholarships.
“In 2025, BAZNAS funded approximately 70 Master's students and 20 Doctoral students at UIN Jakarta. The university always provides avenues to guide its graduates toward higher education,” he explained. Closing the briefing session, Representative of the STF UIN Jakarta Waqf Division, H. Willy Oktaviano, M.A., outlined the vital role alumni play in building the university's endowment fund. To date, STF UIN Jakarta manages Rp3.09 billion and has disbursed Rp2.9 billion in scholarships to 1,428 students. On this occasion, STF officially launched the Alumni Service Waqf program. "Through this program, we only need to contribute Rp10,000. Insha-Allah, this waqf fund is perpetual and will continually strengthen the endowment fund for UIN Jakarta's advancement," he concluded. For context, the 141st Graduation Ceremony of UIN Jakarta was organized in two phases. The first phase was held on Saturday (5/9/2026) for the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Teacher Training (FITK), Faculty of Islamic Studies (FDI), and Graduate School (SPs), continuing on Sunday (6/9/2026) for the Faculty of Ushuluddin (FU), Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES), and Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB). Meanwhile, the second phase will take place on Saturday (12/9/2026) for the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Sciences (FDIKOM), Faculty of Psychology, and Faculty of Science and Technology (FST). The graduation series concludes on Sunday (13/9/2026) featuring the Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH), Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH), and Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP).
