Again, UIN Jakarta Scouts Distributes Aid for Sunda Strait Tsunami victims
Pandeglang, UIN News Online – For the second time, UIN Jakarta channeled humanitarian assistance to victims of the Sunda Strait tsunami. This time the assistance was provided in the form of Rp. 2.8 million in cash for post-tsunami recovery effort.
Assistance was given directly at the disaster site in Sumur Subdistrict, Pandeglang, Banten, Saturday (02/09/2019), from the Scout Unit Advisor Saidah to BCO TV Editor in Chief Oji Faoji as the representative of the recovery team. The assistance will then be used to restore the psychological condition of post-disaster residents, such as trauma healing.
“The funds will be used to support trauma healing activities, especially for children, who are still in refugee camps,” said Saidah.
She also said that the distribution of UIN Jakarta Scouting assistance was expected to reduce the burden of the survivors. "They seem to be still traumatized by the tsunami that happened some time ago," she said.
The Chairman of the Scout Racana Board Syifa Fauziah said, the aid funds came from donors gathered at the UIN Jakarta campus. There is even a contribution from a taklim assembly in Bekasi, West Java.
In addition, the UIN Jakarta Scouts also distributed at least 150 environmentally friendly bags to Sumur residents. This is done so that residents can change their habits by using eco-friendly bags.
“This is a manifestation of our concern for the environment and society in accordance with one of the Dharma Pramuka,” said Syifa. (usa)
