Advancing Pharmaceutical Innovation: UIN Jakarta Solidifies East Asian Alliance with Nihon Pharmaceutical University
JAKARTA, UIN Online News – Demonstrating its accelerating momentum toward internationalization, the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta officially announced that three of its top Pharmacy students have been selected for the prestigious 2026 Student Mobility Program at Nihon Pharmaceutical University (NPU) in Japan.
The selected student laureates Syakira Alifia Medina, Belva Raissa Irfani, and Sakila Cahya Ramadania, they will embed themselves in NPU’s advanced pharmaceutical research and cross-cultural academic ecosystems, representing UIN Jakarta on the global stage.
In an official statement released on Tuesday (6/2), the Dean of FIKES, Prof. Zilhadia, Pharm.D., Ph.D., lauded the students' academic grit and emphasized the strategic importance of this Japan-Indonesia alliance.
"This milestone is a direct result of our students' profound dedication and passion for global excellence," Dean Zilhadia stated. "They will serve as ambassadors for FIKES UIN Jakarta. We are currently building international clinical networks, expanding academic horizons, and introducing our unique synthesis of scientific rigor and ethical Islamic values to the global community."
This mobility program marks a pivotal expansion of UIN Jakarta’s East Asian Academic Alliance. By anchoring its pharmaceutical research alongside Japan’s cutting-edge technological advancements, FIKES is strategically positioning its students to tackle global healthcare challenges.
This cross-border synergy not only elevates the university's research publication metrics but also sets a new benchmark for pan-Asian educational diplomacy in the medical field. Beyond clinical and technical collaboration, this partnership is anchored in a profound philosophical synergy between the two institutions.
Nihon Pharmaceutical University operates under the core educational philosophy of the lifelong training via personality development, drawing from the Buddhist concept of Paramartha (absolute truth) as the pursuit of the most precious human values. NPU’s founding spirit dictates that "all people are born endowed with innate special talents... and education does not finish with school, but is a continuous attainment of self-realization throughout life."
This commitment to lifetime personality development and recognizing the unique strengths of every individual aligns seamlessly with the ethos of personalized medicine, which tailors healthcare to the unique situation of each patient. For UIN Jakarta, this directly mirrors the Islamic concept of nurturing a patient’s holistic well-being (shifa) and treating the human soul with dignity.
By bridging NPU's Paramartha with UIN Jakarta’s integration of science and Islamic morality, the mobility program challenges students to view global pharmacy not merely as a commercial industry, but as a lifelong spiritual and humanitarian calling.
Dean Zilhadia further noted that international mobility programs are not merely academic excursions. Instead, they serve as crucial incubators for character, integrity, and global competence—essential traits for the next generation of healthcare professionals navigating an interconnected world.
Established on March 12, 2004, FIKES UIN Jakarta holds a distinct position as the pioneer of integrated health education within Indonesia’s State Islamic Higher Education (PTKIN) network. The faculty has carved a niche by seamlessly blending advanced health sciences, global professional standards, and ethical Islamic principles.
Currently, FIKES offers comprehensive, nationally accredited programs (via LAM-PTKes) spanning undergraduate, master's, and professional tracks. These include Public Health, Nursing, and Pharmacy, alongside advanced professional degrees such as Nurse and Apothecary programs.
This latest collaboration with Nihon Pharmaceutical University as a specialized institution renowned for its cutting-edge pharmaceutical sciences in Japan further solidifies UIN Jakarta's trajectory toward becoming a world-class hub for medical and health education.
