20 Afghan Students Will Pursue Their Study in UIN Jakarta
Rectorate, UIN News Online – 20 students from Afghanistan, are scheduled to study in UIN Jakarta. They will study in two faculties, namely Economics and Business Faculty (FEB) and Science and Technology Faculty (FST) of UIN Jakarta.
This was conveyed by the Head of CIC (Center for International Cooperation) UIN Jakarta Rachmat Baihaky MA to UIN News online in his office, Friday, (06/29/2018). “Insha Allah, they will arrive in Indonesia next Tuesday (07/03/2018),” he said.
According to Rachmat, the students receive full scholarship from the Rector of UIN Jakarta and Ministry of Religious Affairs Indonesia. Rector’s scholarship will cover all academic financing, while the Ministry of Religious Affairs scholarship covers their living and transportation costs.
He also added that this scholarship is a is a follow-up action from Indonesian government in providing educational assistance for the citizens of Afghanistan to encourage the growth of moderate Islam in their country.
For information, President of Republic Indonesia Joko Widodo received the visit of Afghan President, Muhammad Ashraf Ghani, at the Merdeka Palace on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. Jokowi later stated that the Indonesian government will provide scholarships for 100 Afghan students. With the scholarship, the youth of Afghanistan are expected to pursue their study at various Indonesian universities.
Actually, said Rachmat, the 20 students who are facilitated by the Indonesian Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan are welcome to choose various state universities in Indonesia. However, from a number of universities offered, the 20 students prefer UIN Jakarta compared to other universities.
“This becomes a proud achievement for UIN Jakarta. Hopefully, UIN Jakarta can fulfill the hopes and beliefs of the Government of Indonesia and the people of Afghanistan,” said Rachmat. (usa)
