137th Graduation Ceremony: UIN Jakarta Sends Off 737 New Alumni
Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Online News – UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta continued the second day of its 137th Grand Graduation Open Senate Session on Sunday (August 24, 2025). A total of 737 graduates participated in this session, consisting of: Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) with 316 graduates, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) with 246 graduates, Faculty of Medicine (FK) with 12 graduates, and Faculty of Ushuluddin and Philosophy (FU) with 163 graduates.
This graduation carried the theme “Digital Innovation and Islamic Ethics: Building a Sustainable Civilization in the Era of Industrial Revolution 5.0.” The ceremony opened with welcoming remarks by Senate Secretary Prof. Masri Mansoer, M.Ag., who emphasized the importance of Islam as a moral compass amid rapid digitalization and social transformation. Following this, the Rector’s Decree on graduation was read by Prof. Ahmad Tholabi, S.Ag., S.H., M.H., M.A., and the graduates were officially inaugurated by the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D.
In his address, the Rector underscored the urgency for graduates to be prepared for life after campus:
“We must look ahead as alumni. One of the most pressing challenges you will face is the job market—whether you can compete with graduates from both private and public universities. Your future is determined by your readiness,” he stated, urging the graduates to embrace a competitive spirit and readiness to face global challenges.
The graduate representative, Ahmad Mukhlis Jundullah from the Faculty of Science and Technology (Informatics Engineering) who achieved a perfect GPA of 4.00 with Cum Laude honors, expressed gratitude and reflected on this year’s graduation theme. He stressed that graduation is not the end, but the beginning of service.
“Today is not just the end of an academic journey but the start of a new responsibility: to apply our knowledge and make real contributions to society, the nation, and the people. Digital innovation must go hand in hand with Islamic ethics so that it becomes a blessing, not a threat,” he remarked.
He also highlighted the university’s efforts toward becoming a Green Campus, citing the provision of electric buses and bicycles as a tangible example of sustainable innovation aligned with Islamic values.
“As UIN Jakarta graduates, we are prepared with both modern knowledge and strong Islamic principles. Let this graduation be the start of a wider dedication,” he added.
The ceremony also featured an address from First Lieutenant (LETTU CKM) Dr. Ananda Rizky Marpaung, a 2012 Faculty of Medicine alumnus currently serving as a military doctor in the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). He shared his experiences serving in Papua and representing Indonesia as a contingent doctor at the Bastille Day military parade in France.
“The knowledge and Islamic values I gained from UIN Jakarta have been a strong foundation in facing life’s challenges. I believe today’s graduates are ready to serve wherever they are placed,” he conveyed.
The event continued with the presentation of awards to the best graduates from each faculty. The session concluded with the symbolic tassel shifting by the Rector, diploma handovers by the deans, the reading of the Prasetia Sarjana pledge, and the singing of Hymne UIN Jakarta and Bagimu Negeri.
