Supporting UIN Jakarta Students, IKALUIN Offers Alumni Support

Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Online News - "IKALUIN, as the alumni association of UIN Jakarta, is ready to help students in need. This is our concrete step as IKALUIN." This statement was made by the Chairman of IKALUIN UIN Jakarta, Dr. Hj. TB Ace Hasan Syadzily, during the "National Gathering and IKALUIN Award 2024 Ceremony" held at the Harun Nasution Auditorium on May 26, 2024.

This event is a tradition of IKALUIN, aiming to recognize UIN Jakarta alumni who have made significant contributions to the nation.

IKALUIN has committees in five regions: DKI Jakarta, South Sulawesi, Bekasi Raya, Banten, and East Priangan. "We will also establish IKALUIN NTB led by Prof. Fachrur Rozi and IKALUIN Lampung with Mas Sholihin," he added.

Dr. Ace Hasan explained that the event honors not only famous alumni but also those who work selflessly in their communities. "We received many recommendations about UIN Jakarta alumni who work selflessly and have shown humanitarian contributions."

"The panel's process for the IKALUIN Award was not influenced by me as the chairman, and there were no suggestions from anyone," he clarified.

The event also marked the inauguration of the Alumni Center Building, a three-story building inaugurated by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Prof. Abu Rokhmad, M.Ag, representing the Minister of Religious Affairs. The building fulfills the alumni's desire for a representative office.

"The building will be used for IKALUIN business development, offices, and a hall for education and training for young UIN Jakarta alumni," he explained.

Dr. Ace Hasan emphasized the importance of alumni in enhancing the university's achievements. Major universities worldwide view their alumni as their output. "IKALUIN pays special attention to its alumni to promote vertical mobility and strategic roles for the advancement of Indonesia," he added.

In his speech, Dr. Ace Hasan also addressed the issue of Single Tuition Fees (UKT). Within IKALUIN, there was a debate about UKT, but alumni do not need to demonstrate as they did when they were students. Alumni find solutions and support students to continue their studies.

"We will find solutions, one of which is how alumni can contribute to students in need. This is our concrete step," he said.

According to data previously presented by the rector, the contribution of UKT fees to the development of UIN Jakarta is only 36 percent, with the rest coming from the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Dr. Ace Hasan emphasized that if UIN Jakarta attains PTN BH status, this must be thoroughly reviewed to ensure education remains accessible to all.

The chairman also mentioned that the world now belongs not only to the older generation but also to the youth. Therefore, IKALUIN pays special attention to young alumni.

"I am very pleased with the suggestion of a young influential alumni category in the IKALUIN Award. This new category aims to encourage and recognize the important role of young people," he explained.

This initiative is expected to inspire UIN Jakarta students by providing role models of alumni who excel for the nation and the country. With these initiatives, Dr. Hj. TB Ace Hasan Syadzily is optimistic that IKALUIN and UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta will continue to grow and contribute to the progress of Indonesia.
