Professorship Confirmation Drives UIN Jakarta's Internationalization
Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Online News— UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta once again confirmed six professors on Wednesday (15/5/2024). This confirmation event makes UIN Jakarta the State Islamic Higher Education Institution (PTKIN) with the highest number of professors, reaching 138 individuals.
Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., the Rector of UIN Jakarta, expressed deep appreciation for the achievement of the six newly confirmed professors in his speech. The confirmation of six new professors is a significant achievement because a professorship represents an identity and a full achievement in the academic field.
"With 138 professors, UIN Jakarta not only strengthens its position among PTKIN but also advances towards internationalization," he stated.
"In 2024, in the context of religious subjects, philosophy, and theology, we have reached the world ranking of 101st. This is tangible evidence of our efforts to align with global universities," he continued.
UIN Jakarta is determined to continuously enhance its academic reputation, both individually and institutionally. The Rector emphasized the importance of the role of professors, stating that a professorship is not the end but the beginning of greater dedication to enhance academic reputation.
The Rector highlighted UIN Jakarta's strategy to strengthen its international position through several key initiatives: bureaucratic reform, implementation of the greencampus concept, digitization, and the development of self-financing. "Internationalization is not just about rankings, but also about building a global reputation through innovation and sustainability," he explained.
Moreover, the Rector also emphasized the importance of the contributions of professors in teaching, research, and community service. He stated that if this is overlooked, it is equivalent to not appreciating the true meaning of professors. According to him, all of this is done to establish UIN as an independent institution and ready to achieve the status of PTN-BH (State Universities Legal Entity).
In his closing remarks, the Rector invited everyone to continue supporting UIN Jakarta's vision of internationalization to remain at the forefront, both nationally and internationally.
Through this confirmation, he reaffirmed his commitment to becoming an educational institution that excels not only domestically but also globally, ready to face future challenges with a strong spirit of internationalization.
Among the professors confirmed are Prof. Dr. Yusuf Rahman, M.A. (Islamic Thought), Prof. Usep Abdul Matin, S.Ag., M.A., MA., Ph.D. (Islamic History and Civilization), Prof. Dr. Achmad Ubaedillah, M.A. (Islamic Political History), Prof. Dr. Nur Hidayah, S.Ag., S.E., M.A., Ph.D. (Islamic Economic Law), Prof. Arif Zamhari, M.Ag., Ph.D (Sociology of Religion), and Prof. Dr. Ambran Hartono, S.Si., M.Si (Applied Physics).
