Adjusting UKT is Not the Main Strategy, UIN Jakarta Pursues Business Potential

Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Online News - The Rector of UIN Jakarta explained his performance over the past year at the "National Gathering and IKALUIN Award 2024 Ceremony" held at the Harun Nasution Auditorium on May 26, 2024. One of his focuses is on the university pursuing business potential instead of relying on Single Tuition Fees (UKT) for operational funds.

Under the leadership of Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., UIN Jakarta is committed to implementing various strategic programs. One of the main agendas is digitalization, which is now a national agenda known as the Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE). "This is an important part of bureaucratic reform, transparency, and accountability," he emphasized.

In addition, Prof. Asep highlighted the development of the Green Campus concept, aiming to make UIN Jakarta pollution-free and equipped with efficient water and energy management systems. This program aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). "UIN Jakarta's curriculum development and other activities are directed towards a Green Campus," he added.

The rector, who is also a 1995 UIN Jakarta alumnus, explained that to enhance financial independence, UIN Jakarta plans to develop business centers such as hospitals, dormitories, and hotels. This is expected to reduce reliance on UKT and improve the welfare of educators and lecturers. "We develop business centers to not rely on UKT and to ensure the welfare of educators and lecturers," he explained.

These agendas have already started to show results. In 2024, UIN Jakarta ranked 141st globally in the fields of religion, philosophy, and theology. "The hard work of our founding fathers, alumni, and lecturers is evident, and we are on the right track," he proudly stated.

Prof. Asep also affirmed that UIN Jakarta is a foundation for the development of Islam and science, and these areas continue to be strengthened. Cooperation with IKALUIN is expected to help students develop their potential.

"We are working with IKALUIN to support students and nurture future leaders, so we can fund students," he revealed.

With the spirit of togetherness and support from various parties, he is confident that UIN Jakarta can advance for the nation. With these initiatives, Prof. Asep is optimistic that UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta will continue to grow and achieve global excellence.
