Puslitpen UIN Jakarta holds webinar on research challenges and opportunities during Covid-19 crisis
Ciputat, UIN News Online – The Center for Research and Publication (Puslitpen) UIN Jakarta holds an international webinar on research challenges and opportunities during Covid-19 crisis on Tuesday (06/23/2020). Moderated by Maila Rahiem, this webinar invites Steven Eric Krauss (Research associate at Social Sciences Institute, University Putera Malaysia), Nur Surrayyah Madhubala Abdullah (Member of University Research Ethics Committee, University Putera Malaysia) as the speakers. Also present in the event, the Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis.
Rector Amany in her speech said that policy-oriented research will make a positive contribution to the government and the community, especially during the Covid-19 crisis. It is considered very necessary because many people are affected.
“The economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic has been largely disruptive. Therefore, researchers in the field of economics must be able to contribute to the post-pandemic national economic recovery program,” said Amany.
On the same occasion, Steven Eric Krauss shared his tips and strategies on conducting research fieldwork during a pandemic. According to Eric, due to various social restrictions, we had limited human contact during the Covid-19.
“It does create unique challenges for researchers. For one who does not have an access to technology, it could be a problem,” he said.
He also added that there are several major methods that can help us in collecting data by using a wide range of technology. For qualitative consideration and approaches, we can use online interviews, online document/archive analysis, photo elicitation, diaries/journaling, asynchronous methods, and online discussion platforms.
“As for qualitative consideration and approaches, we can use various online surveying platforms, social media, and e-mail,” he added. (usa)
